I got scammed yesterday, just had an operation and was in a lot of pain thinking it was my son... I lost £1209 thinking I was paying the bill for my son but before I realized it was too late, sat there for hours just crying, and reported it but other bank refused to refund me even though they knew it was a scam, I think these banks should also be held responsibility, some nasty people out there hope it chokes you as it was my last :(

The information about scams is so prevalent, even people who stay away from social media know about it. Terminology matters. Referring to people who are contacted by scammers, as "targets", instead of "victims" can be empowering. A victim has no free will, no choice, no way out. A target is simply contacted, there is a choice as to whether the target responds or not.
When people remain aware or are made aware, that knowledge is very powerful, very empowering.
A door mat can only be walked on when it lays down.

if i got this and it looked like it was from my mom and she was in money trouble, id laugh, because she goes to the casino so often and loses that we all know to NOT give her money. and we know shed never ask us for money because we know her addiction

My takeaway from this is to never install or use WhatsApp. Sounds like scam central and there are already way too many ways to communicate with friends and family.

I actually had a conversation with a scammer I said, "so how long does It take to scam people do you wait a few days or a one week? And then I said, "are you a man or Chinese?"

Great tips, Dr. Barker. I one time received a message asking for my authenticator code from my Microsoft Authenticator app, luckily I didn't send them. They were trying to access my email account using that code. Thanks. Cheers.

A friend of a friend on facebook asked me to " send him the code " to help him get on to facebook. I told him 3 things, ,, dude, ,, I don't know you, I don't work for you, and most important, you're already on facebook.
