This guy got right to the point. He didn't give me some long intro or set up his video and explain what he's about to explain. This dude just started talking to me.

Finally, if you purchase your iPhone directly from Apple and decide you’re not happy with it in the 14-day buyer’s remorse period, Apple charges you zero dollars to return it. Verizon and other carriers will charge you a minimum restocking fee of $50.00.

I tried to explain this very scenario to friends but they end up doing the exact opposite and later complain when their bills are higher, their grandfathered plans no longer apply because there are usually stipulations that apply when you upgrade through a carrier that push you into higher tier plans and they are bound to that phone for 3 years. They always wonder why I always go directly through apple and purchase my phones outright but it's something I've done for the last 6 years, while always selling my previously used for for at least 70% of what I paid, sometimes more. Whatever makes them happy though and I stopped offering help when it comes to phones since I end up just wasting time because they see the big trade in offer and their eyes just light up and that seems to always win them over.

I'm on a grandfathered T-Mobile plan. It's literally cheaper for me to just pay it in full through Apple than T-Mobile on account of how cheap it is alone.

bro no regular person is going to get two phone plans just to always get coverage in their home city

The issue is that 100$ a month is more attractive than 700$ one time payment for a huge percent of people

Phones also depreciate regardless of the storage capacity. An older 1tb phone might have a trade in value of $120. Pretty ridiculous if you ask me. Might as well sell the phone myself.

When I first got my iPhone 12 Pro Max back in late 2020 we decided to buy it at the Apple Store instead of buying it from AT&T and it was the best decision we ever did

I will never buy a phone from a carrier again. Those promotions are meant to keep you with them for 3 years!

Forget the miserly trade-in payments. When my last phone threw a tantrum, I took the older one out of the drawer, moved the SIM, and had a working phone in fifteen minutes. So finding a shop that could fix the new one was no rush. That's worth more than the trade-in value.

I’m a 24 year T-Mobile customer, (well, 5 year, 19 year sprint) and with these guys, if your not on their two top go plans, you are left out of any good deal worth having. I was going to go through Apple for that purpose anyway, but thankfully I came across this video to solidify my decision even more, thanks

I’ve always bought mine from apple. What I do is I set aside money over a period of time and keep adding to it then I just buy the phone in one go and put it on a prepaid plan. It’s way cheaper that way and less of a hassle in the long run. Another thing is I want to actually KEEP my old phone when I upgrade instead of trade it in for a tiny fraction of what it’s actually worth. Can’t imagine doing an expensive contract plan...

The unlock policies are about to change, the FCC is going to require all devices purchased from carriers to be unlocked within 60 days of purchase regardless how it was purchased.

Don’t forget that if you finance through Apple and use their Apple Card you get up to 6% cash back so that’s like a small discount too

Don’t forget to mention…in order to finance with Apple you have to have decent to good credit.

I just did the math. To get my $810 credit from T-Mobile I need to spend $600 more over two years ($999 + 600 - $810 = $789 iPhone 16 Pro cost). To buy through Apple $999 - $400 trade in $599. Apple is cheaper.

To your 3rd point… there may be tax savings when trading in via Apple. At least in my state, I do not pay tax on the ~$500 instant credit from my trade in. Saved me an additional ~$50
