try to turn off VoLTE on verison sim card and see what you get, call will have no service.. but verizon iphone works both GSM and CDMA well

The phones that Apple carries at the Apple Store are universal phones meaning they can work on any carrier, but they gets locked to the carrier who Sim card is activated on the phone at the very first setup. The model you have is probably the A1865. With that said if you were to buy an iPhone straight from T-Mobile or AT&T stores they would be GSM only because they do not have the QUALCOMM modem in them which makes them compatible with CDMA network, they have the Intel modem which does not work with CDMA.

Verizon blocked GSM iPhone 7s last year. They’re probably not blocking it as Verizon is moving to LTE only. They now sell VoLTE flip phones that don’t have CDMA. I wouldn’t be surprised if Verizon “officially” supported GSM iPhone 7, 8 and X soon. Great video!

Verizon's new SIM card features gsm, they have a cdma and LTE technology SIM cards. A Verizon wireless representative told me the new SIM cards will be able to be used in a unlocked phones.

Just moved my unlocked AT&T iPhoneX to Verizon and it’s working fine. Who needs 2G or 3G if you have 4G/LTE connectivity?

Yea it works. I remember wanting to get my iPhone 6 early when it launched and it didn’t have a gsm to it so I just went with t-Mobile.

Your phone connected to Verizon's LTE network. LTE is a GSM technology. Every LTE network is GSM. I believe that if you were in a 3G only area, or turned off LTE, your phone would not be able to connect to the Verizon 3G network because their 3G network is, in fact, CDMA. But LTE is GSM so it makes sense that it would work as an LTE only device on Verizon. Thanks for the great video, as always!

I have an AT&T iPhone that I bought with literally all the carriers of the world unlocked, so I feel pretty rich 😂

This was the case with the iPhone 7 as well. Many of the Verizon’s network features use IP and since Verizon has their network tied to SIMs not phones (like traditional CDMA networks) it would definitely work. However as you should CDMA voice and data will not work.

I’m just surprised that Apple added the Verizon carrier bundles on that phone.

This will only work on Verizon as of now with limited features.

Verizon is supposed to be completely CDMA free by January 1st, 2020. Looks like phones that work on T-Mobile and ATT will now work on Verizon if unlocked.

Hopefully this switch will not affect folks in rural areas.

I’m getting a new IPhone X and my current provider is T-Mobile. Should I order a sprint or verizon one due to it having cdma and gsm or will it not matter. I am going to take my sim out of my old phone then put it into the new phone

I think most iPhones comes with both cdma and gsm compatibility because I have checked on some iPhones 6s and 7 respectively and when you search for networks cdma networks appear too to be selected as network I saw that on both a t mobile iPhone and ATT iPhone so yeah they probably could be used on cdma networks
