Simple Fix for the Duck / Snap Hook!

preview_player

Over confidence or a stiff back can encourage a golfer to stand too far from the ball with a driver. This is common when it comes to fixing a duck hook miss. This video highlights one or two other issues that once understood are an easy fix.

i was banging my drives for a while and thought i had it down and slowly it got worse and worse with exactly what you said. Hooks and pushing it high to the right. Your explanation was spot on

Great explanation Murdoch. It seems like the solution is almost always taking it back to the fundamentals. It’s like calling IT and then they tell you to reboot your computer.😂😂😂

Great video. I noticed my irons were great, but my driver started to get away from me and I wondered what was happening. Then, in this video, you stated about turning the left shoulder down. When I picked up my iron and swung and then picked up my driver and swung I realized I was not doing that with the driver and it was making me come extremely inside! Great video and thanks for the tip exclamation!!!!

Good video. You have a calm confidence that allows the message to hit home. Suscribed!!

I recently started hooking off the tee and I've been striping well for quite some time. I noticed I've been way away from the ball in an effort to kill it. This is very helpful. thank you.

Thanks! This has been my problem for quite some time now. Thanks for confirming what I believed to be my issue.

exactly, hooks are due to the hands moving while the torso doesnt. To avoid an hook hands and torso must move together at the same speed

Thanks for your driver/duck hooking segment. I purchased a new offset driver & 3 wood recently... Now I'm hooking ( not snap hooks ) on a regular basis and have resorted to a cut swing in order to find fairways. Probably a dumb buy, but shots all fly with a draw or hook. Jim/ port Charlotte FL

So, for those of us who know all this already, have done all this and still hook / draw it-

Best advise is your swing is already fine- just add a slight increase in pressure in your lead ring finger and pinky. You’ll hit it straight again with every club and even be able to hit fade

Wonderful, thank u so much. I realize now that I was taking my driver too far inside and I was a bit "quick" coming into my downswing. Great video, as usual. A video on Flop Shots around the green would be awesome, they are so challenging, especially on a tight lie. Cheers from the USA.!

This is me, I have been playing well lately but occasionally throw in a duck hook or leave the face wide open and push or slice my driver. Feel like I might be reaching at times and my miss is usually out of the toe. Cheers for the video

Amazing. I honestly have never heard standing to far away was bad. I had a lesson years ago and they told me stand further away

Nailed it! Thank you! The hooks plague me all the time and I do think it’s a result of hips stalling and losing posture.

This was a great video! YouTube algorithm must have access to my camera roll as this is the exact issue I’m having! Interesting that I could be standing to far away! I am short 5’6 so always feel so far away from the ball. Do you do in person lessons or online lessons?

Hi again Murdoch, I notice in this video, (and I’ve also noticed in in other videos) that when setting up your posture you position the lean angle by touching your knees - presumably to establish the correct “arm hang”. I’m assuming this move is a general setting and not specific to the driver alone. Can you please elaborate or point me to the video where this setup routine is covered.
Thanks again for your videos.

Wow great words because my game is “hooking the bed “sort of speak… been going low 80s every round now I’m low 90s because of the dreaded Hook

That was spot on for me 👍 I have had terrible problems with my hook regarding the drive and long irons. Thanks for confirming my thoughts about my problem 👍 I must admit that I still sometimes have problems with my wrists rollover 🥲 I try to go back slowly and then accelerate so the wrists comes before impact. Are my thinking ok ???
