Grills are a big investment and the classifieds and online marketplaces are a great place to pick gently used grills at amazing discounts. I'm always amazed how many people buy a grill, use it twice, and then sell it for a lot less than you could pick one up at the store. It takes a little bit of time, but the rewards can be well worth the effort. If your fast, you could pick up a grill for almost nothing!

Your Weber performer with the plastic table, charcoal baskets and Weber grill cover for $100 on marketplace is exactly what I got. Mine is the Gen II version with the gas assist light. I bought some degreaser and a new grate and it works just like new.

Great tips. Your "webber" trick reminded me of my Craiglist seach string:

('weber grill'|'weber charcoal'|'weber kettle'|'weber smoker'|'weber bbq'|webber|'charcoal grill'|'barbecue'|'bbq') -islands

Grills new in box are huge. However, if you only have a sedan, I recommend taking it out of the box. Pieces are easier to fit vs a giant box.

I got an Oklahoma joe Highland offset on KSL last week for $25. It was rusted up but I seasoned it and burned it in and it looks and cooks good as new.

When I sold my Grills chimp, I gave him a YouTube link to a short edited video of the grill starting up, and working at temperature, as well as a walkthrough of all the parts. It was a pretty easy sell. The market sucks for pellet grills down here in south Texas so I took a 50% hit for only 8 months of use.

For Weber kettles, make certain the lid fits on the bowl in every direction so you can direct the draft where you want it while smoking.
If the ash pan is missing replace it with a cheap stainless steel mixing bowl for less money.
Take it to the pay&spray carwash on the way home.
“Curb-ies” is what I call the free bbqs I find on the curb!

Meeting at someone's home can be a concern. I don't mind, myself. I've never had any issues. But I'm also over 6 feet tall and over 300lbs. And I'm always packing. Most folks are really nice, though. If you are concerned, take someone else with you.

Great video! I got one without the triangle leg support on 22' recently. Question for you is it really necessary to have it? Could I do without it for a while?
