My Top Gear Picks

In this video I've got seven tips for buying a new snowboard jacket. The first tips it to shop around a few stores to find the brands and style of snowboard jackets you like. The second tips is find a snowboard jacket that has a good fit. Next, find materials that are comfortable to ride in. Then check out the price of the jacket and make sure it fits into your budget. The fifth tip is to check out the jacket features and tech. Next, check the water proofing of the snowboard jacket and make sure it suites the condition you'll be riding in. Finally make sure the jacket suites your personal style.

I just bought Burton AK cycle jacket and trousers. They're a little bit more expensive but they use Gore technology and will last for years! ;) And I'm from the rainy Germany so waterproofing is everything ;)!
Cheers!

Maybe it would be fun to introduce the people you often ride with in a video. Showing their tricks, but also letting them tell about their experience so far, funny/inspiring stories etc when you're in the lift.

My tips: 1. Pockets with zippers! So many stupid snowboard jackets skip the zippers, which is terrible if you're a beginner who might fall, or hold your jacket upside down during after-ski :) It's nice to have a large inner pocket with a zipper. And an arm pocket for the skipass.
2. Insulation or just a shell? Think about where you're gonna ski. Layers are great but honestly sometimes it's nice with a tiny bit of insulation.
3. Feel the cuffs and zippers. If you're annoyed by those things the jacket is not gonna be a good experience.

Looking at the price after finding one you like can be dangerous haha. Tip to anyone who sees this - avoid buying any guy during the season as much as possible. I just bought a $380 Dakine gore Tex jacket for $185, and $260 Dakine gore Tex pants for $83. Dragon pxv $90 instead of $190 full price etc. off season sales are key!!

Great video. Another important feature I look for in outerwear is breathability. I'm sure it's given a rating along with the waterproof rating. It's important because snow sports are a physical activity and if your clothes don't breath, you'll get sweaty and hot. I had a cheap set of pants and jacket and I got very hot quickly, but when I upgraded to better clothes, it was more comfortable as they breathed better

How should the jacket fit with layers? for example with a baselayer and a puffy? Also how long should it be, should it fit like a parka or less longer is better for mobility? I don't see too many snowboarders wearing puffy jackets as layers, I see them wearing lightweight hoodies, and a baselayers, is there a reason why? what is the usual temperature in the slopes when you snowboard? -10 to -30? what do you recommend for layers in your experience for different temperatures ranges?

I got an Airblaster Freedom Suit and man I love it! It only cost me $300 (after shipping) for one from last season. Should have gone a size bigger, tho.
