My biggest watch buying tip when using eBay (or any other auction site), is the "art of shilling". When a seller uses another account name to artificially drive up the price by bidding against you or others. Be aware, be careful.

Otherwise, happy bidding! There are some very great deals to be had.

Great content Oleg! I'm happy to have your content because you have to deal with the Canadian perspective of the sites (eBay, import duties, shipping times, etc.)

I do the same exact with bidding. I actually wait for 7 seconds specifically to hit "confirm". I've had a 100% win rate with that method! Amazing video as always...

I like to find a seller that doesn’t normally sell watches. I have been lucky to be pleasantly surprised with someone liquidating an estate. I have made crazy low offers and picked up some steals.

Happy anniversary, Oleg!
It's crazy to think most of these tips should be common sense, but not everyone does them. Thanks for helping the amateurs out!

Congrats on the one year!!! When I buy watches, I take risks when purchasing from Eastern Europe (Ukraine) and Asia. I have been lucky and Ebay has been awesome if there are any issues.

Good video, I just lost an auction yesterday for a vintage watch by submitting my bid with about 45 seconds to go. I thought it would win but someone else outbid me with 5 seconds to go, I hit the automatic bid button but that turned out to be below the counter-bid. On further reflection I think the watch wasn't in quite as good of a condition as I would have liked and at least the other guy payed almost $800 more than he thought he would.

This guy was selling two automatic watches in car boot sale for €25. He was offered €15 only, but diden't sell. He went to a jeweller who told him to sell them on eBay. He got €160 for one and €85 for the other. Theres very few bargains to be got on eBay watches. They had to pay the postage as well. Really top price.

My tip would be to look at the other potential buyers numbrr of purchases. If you think a watch is going cheap, it is a good sign when the heavy hitters think so as well. I was bidding on a very rare seiko that looked terrible but it sold for $459 to a guy with over a thousand feedback.

You are likely correct about everything here but, I am an ebay seller and I can tell you, you are a lot safer now than in years past. I did buy a camera once that had been in water, (Film, not digital) but was total JUNK. everything rusted or corroded together. A "Door stop" I took it as experience and let it go. In the last few years, they now hold your money for ? 30 days I think. THEY tell you when your money is released to you giving the buyer time to receive and agree the deal is OK for not. I have never cheated anyone but lets face it, they are out there. I am just saying, as a buyer, you are safer than ever now. Cheers, Mike Austin, the Cincinnati Kid.

Well done Oleg on your channel anniversary, it amazes me how you guys find the time to review, research and reply to comments AND get on with your normal day to day work life etc - I'm glad however that you do. Another interesting video from you and lots of useful tips in there . I'll use some of those next time especially looking a bit more closely at the sellers feedback and I hadn't seen how you can check the prices on previously sold items before. Big thumbs up to your channel from me.

Hello. I have a 1965 Omega 560 cal. I love this watch but I think I have a knockoff Omega brand leather band. I want an authentic Omega band or at least an authentic clasp/buckle without spending a bunch for it but sometimes I can't distinguish the real bands from the fakes. Thanks!
