I know how to kill the Desire, once you get it and you see that it wasn't everything you thought it would be you don't want it anymore. Love can be a delusion. I had a crush on a girl since I was 17 and I finally married her. I loved her voice and she was an artist once I married her I realize those were the only two good things about her. she was sleeping with everybody in town and had no loyalty. Turned out to be a nightmare

My answer would be let me make you an appointment for you to talk to someone who can uncover the underlying question to that answer and the ones that come after that. Only then will you find the answer to that and other questions you may have. But there is a little work to do first. After a while nothing will seem or feel that overwhelming believe me i can vouch for that. Now I am 99% content being with myself and high on solitude and if someone comes along, well that would be amazing but if not i am so okay with that. It truly does pay to do the work on yourself. 😊
