I was an OTR truck driver and I did not use a high-gain antenna: I used a flat directional antenna and a Alfa USB adapter.
I considered getting a yagi and putting it on a pole to get over the truck stop full of 13'6" trailers but it was so seldom that there was nothing around that my cell phone tethering did not have enough data to bridge those gaps would not suffice I never bothered. (not to mention you lose signal strength the longer the antenna wire is).

High-gain antennas just take the typical doughnut shaped transmit shape and flatten it. They can, actually, lower your reception.

A flat antenna pointed at the -insert free Wi-Fi hotspot here- is a better choice for distance.

Sometimes there would be a hotel around and I would call them and ask, matter of factly, "what is the Wi-Fi password again?".
Only one did the front desk ask for my room number and that was a one story mom and pop motel.

And I always use a VPN with open/shared hotspots.

Every once in a while I deep dive on port bonding. It's progressing, but the spec for TCP/IP makes VoiP look easy in comparison.

Thank you so much for this info!! I learned SO much! Do you have any issues live video streaming during the day? ie doing zoom calls. I’ll be traveling in an RV and will need to be on zoom calls for about 4 hours, 3 days per week. Wondering if this is my best option?

Id like to know how well this works in remote locations? Im trying to find an inexpensive solution for internet where i don't need to bring a dozen different devices and multiple service carriers. I currently have att as my mobile carrier. Thanks!

Hey man great vid and since I'm about to move to a new apt abroad with no router except maybe a wifi which isn't enough for my work (I make phone calls through a software in my laptop) will that router help me? could I just hook my laptop to this router with a DSL cable just like any other base router from a provider company ?

Hello. Thank you for the information. Are you paying 10 bucks a month for the T MObile sim card?

Do we not have to also change the HL (Hop Limit) for IPV6 too? I thought the TTL was for IPV4 and HL was for IPV6? (I am not even sure what these refer to, ha ha) I have read where people had to disable IPV6 so this type of change would still work but, I am in way over my head myself and trying to set up my internet in my van and just got my GLinet 1300 (Beryl) which runs OpenWRT also. Thanks for your videos.

So how much is it per month? Or do you just buy the router thing?

I have not seen any of your videos so maybe you have answered this already but how much power does it draw off your battery bank?

Hello, would a Verizon SIM card with a prepaid monthly unlimited data plan work with this device? Thanks.

hey man, this is a long shot, but you seem super knowledgeable. I have a netgear M1 with an at&t sim. Is this spitz router any better? If I put my sim card in it, will my wifi be better, even if slightly? just looking for a router instead of a hotspot. Thanks for this great video!
