Wow I never heard of that word "Echoism" educational short thanks 👍 I guess it's a common trait among flying monkeys, or people who are caught up in group mobbing, or those who see people-pleasing as a necessary evil to get through their day.. It's interesting your point on empathy but I think what causes it is more a lack of autonomy or possibly authenticity??

Would a codependent be more tempted to narcissistic behaviors than an echoist?
My father is codependent but he did join in to embarrass, shame, and instigate.

Somehow this word stuck with me, I kind of disagree on the part about Echoists being empathetic persons, some may have cognitive empathy but still stick with the whichever power is befitting them.. Their agenda is self-serving NOT empathetic. If they truly have empathy for others or even themselves, wouldn't they have stood up for what truly resonates within??

Some can even be covet narcissists that hides and looks for occasions to manipulate stronger persons in power to their secret advantage. There's a saying: 狐假虎威 仗势欺人
