The worst thing is being unable to control the own breathing and feeling suffocating, it is really scary and death threatening.

I experience sleep paralysis constantly, sometimes once a week. At first it seemed scary to me. But now I am enjoying. It's a thrill..

The 1st time I experienced it I was resigned to "I guess this what it's like to die". The last time...I was reclining in a chair and I immediately started to pray then I jumped up and fell the strongest butterflies I've ever felt.

I had it for the first time ever today. I have been sick and I felt there was nothing for me to do but take a nap. I remember my dream, I was on my phone and went to the contacts app, but there was only 2 contacts and I didn’t know who they were. Apparently I needed to call someone but they weren’t on the contacts. And then I became aware, I thought ‘Oh yeah, I’m dreaming. Maybe I should wake up.’ So then I tried stretching my legs to get up but I couldn’t. ‘That’s weird.’ I tried again and again but it wouldn’t work. I couldn’t move my arms either, so I decided to open my eyes. It seemed pretty hard but I opened them eventually. Something was off about my nightstand, it was glitching. Then I saw a face. It was *super* creepy, it had a small chin but the eyes were humongous, practically popping out of its head. I got scared and closed my eyes. Then I remembered, ‘Wait, am I having sleep paralysis?’ I tried screaming but I could only blow out some air through my nose. I tried kicking my legs but I wouldn’t budge at all. Then I tried to calm myself, and open my eyes again. I did see the face, but only for a second. Then everything looked normal, and I could move my legs. I got up and searched sleep paralysis, and that’s what it was! Scary.

I still can’t believe that it happened to me last night two times. It happened to me before but I never saw any shadow, so last night I woke up, I couldn’t move, I tried to call my mom or anyone but I couldn’t talk or scream, I tried to move my arm or kick my leg but it didn’t work, then I fully woke up, and I said, if it happens again, I’ll just open my eyes and then I’ll be able to move. Big mistake, then it happened again, and I tried to talk again but I couldn’t. So I remembered I could open my eyes, and when I opened my eyes, I could hear my mom singing a scary song and there was a shadow closing my door, it was really scary, so then I closed my eyes and I realized I had sleep paralysis, then I tried to stay calm and I was able to wake up, then today I told my mom and she said that it happened to her a lot when she was a kid, but now I’m scared to go to sleep tonight😭

5:34 AM: I had a dream where I realized it was actually a lucid dream as I could do things in it, not sure why, but my first thought was to wake up, woke up half dazed see some figure in my eyes, ( hallucinations in affect) I could not move, but only look around begging my body to just move, lesson learned, do not try to wake up during lucid dreams,

I've never experienced sleep paralysis. When I was little, I had the opposite problem where I would stand up and walk around in my sleep.

I couldn't wake up at that time. I'm conscious but I couldn't open my eyes and cannot move my body. I also couldn't breathe... Thankfully I overcame it idk how but I'm grateful I did it.

I just had this last night. And it’s true for me at least, that this only happens when I sleep on my back. I get this twice a year or so and it’s scary
