Unity vs Unreal Engine | Switching Over

In this video, we'll be discussing if it's worth switching from one engine to the other (Unity or Unreal Engine), and I'll give you guys some tips on what kind of feedback and source you should take in when it comes to other people's opinions.

Since a lot of people have been willing to switch over from Unity to Unreal Engine, I decided I'd make this video to give my two cents on the topic.

I'm not literally going to compare Unity to Unreal Engine, and tell you which one is the best. That'd be biased. Instead, I will give you my top tips on why you should switch, why you shouldn't switch, and I'll try giving you the set of mentality that'll help you picking one.

If you are switching over from Unity to Unreal - or vice versa - this video should be helpful! Let me know if you have any feedback, or feel like I missed something.

Also, hit *SUBSCRIBE* to make sure you don't miss out on any of my new content, like new comparison videos, level designs, tutorials and MORE!

I hope you guys enjoy. :)

*I'm getting a little sick* btw, so my voice got weird sometimes, and I couldn't speak as clear as I usually do.
Sorry about that! Let's hope I get better until Monday.

I'm a huge fan of Blueprint in UE4. I am a level designer and in the past never worked with code but the ability to use BP has opened up a lot of opportunities for me and has speed up our workflow quite a bit.

I love how honest you are in this video. Great job 👍

Both engines are good, but for making a scene I prefer UE4 over the unity

Whats about the performance? I am new to the scene and took this video just to decide which engine i should use ...

Being able to create complete games with Blueprints doesn't mean that you should. For instance, Epic's Fortnite does not rely entirely on Blueprints, but rather, and almost C++. Blueprints should be used to bridge the gap between artists and programmers. Base functionalities should be created in C++, with parameters, so that artists/designers can easily tweak them, or add an extra layer of functionality (via Blueprints) to those parameters to test out further ideas.

Lastly, there is a learning curve involved in any tool, but it shouldn't matter. You learn only once, then produce many. What matters is the effectiveness of the chosen engine to achieve your project.

Hey Sam! Sometimes I'm board watching designs as background for videos.(even though they are delightful) I think it would be a great idea if you animate something like a powerpoint with animated characters and explain using it. something like what extracredits does. thank you for awsome content and keep going.

As far as graphics go you can get the same look "The only difference is that it takes more practice in Unity"... and you get a much larger FPS dip, which also forces you to render less detail to get the same FPS. You guys always leave this IMPORTANT point out.

Sykoo what do you think about Cryengine?

I was expecting some actual ups and downs for each engine, even some technical facts from somebody that's experienced with both. Everybody knows that UE4 is better with graphics and it has the visual coding.
I wouldn't be able to talk like "do whatever you want", "each engine is good but it depends on your prefs", "don't listen to anybody's opinion" etc. I can bet everybody coming here looked for point of view.
Man, for 15 minutes... Still liked the video.

Personally I've really only coded in C# and been using Unity, but I wouldn't mind learning C++ & trying Unreal in the future.

you can reach visual quality with both true.

Its just way more straight forward and easy to get with unreal.

What would be the best approach to learn unitys C# coding?
