Osteoarthritis (OA) - Pathophysiology - Rheumatology Series
Показать описание
Osteoarthritis (Part 3) - Pathophysiology ...Osteoarthritis (OA) is a biomechanical degeneration of cartilage and their matrix (combined with growth of bone called subchondral sclerosis). Osteoarthritis is, by far, the most common rheumatological diseases.
Osteoarthritis is the same as degenerative joint disease (DJD).
Osteoarthritis is divided into primary (idiopathic) and secondary (2ry to something else such as trauma, congenital anomaly, inflammatory arthritis,...etc).
Osteoarthritis (OA) is characterized by osteophytes (bony projections) in the DIP (Heberden nodes) and PIP (Bouchard nodes).
OA is diagnosed clinically and radiologically (x-ray)...You might need to do some labs to rule out other diseases.
