I work in a desert environment and I really love the concept, easy to clean, simple, lightweight, cheap to buy, not much can go wrong with it, has the basic edc tools, definitely getting one, well done leverman .

Great Video. But why on Earth should anyone open a tool when the knife is open (around 5:00)?

Hi Everyone, i'm from Germany and your first complain is actually the reason i bought the Bond. In German Weapon Laws it's highly restricted to carry Knifes with onehanded operation. Due to that carring most multitools is a problem for me. But as i mostly carry a dedicated Knife, the Knife of the Bond doesnt bother me at all.
I'm with you that it should come with a pocket clip, first thing i added on mine. Also I would prefer a locking Mechanism, but i see the Problems with other Weapon laws there (i.e. the UKs). So in conclution i think its a nice tool if you need to work around laws and restrictons.

The Bond is intended for jurisdictions that have laws against locking knives. The UK, for example (I presume that's why they named it after James Bond).

Like someone else already commented, this is a multi tool marketed towards the european market and other places with strict regulations regarding knives and tools. I know for a fact that that is why the knife isn’t one had accessible and I think that is also the reason why the pocket clip doesn’t come standard. I know that here in the Netherlands you can’t have a knife ready to go without good reason (so you can if you are an electrician but not for edc) and a pocket clip suggests it’s meant to be used in a pinch which is technically against the law. There are no laws directly against pocket clips though.

to pull the blade out safely...just open the handle about 60 degrees, pull open blade, and close the one handle arm. it slips open next to the plier jaws so you don't need to fully open it. that way...you don't need to apply the crazy force needsed when fully opening the plier handles. I cut myself twice before I figured this out.

You need to remember why it’s called ‘bond’ it’s made to go along with the ridiculous knife laws we have here in Britain, apologies for that but I’m grateful to leatherman because now I can have something more than the micra

I like the smooth edges to the handle when cutting with the blade. It's more comfortable than handles with the tools on the outside.

Great review! I don’t mind the accessibility as I use the blade regularly but not very often really. Plus i’ve never liked pocket clips, and I live in a country where there is the risk someday a policeman will take away my wave because of it’s locking blade, so I think this is the one for me. Thanks for the information!

It’s not a nostalgia piece. It’s aimed at the European market that have strict knife laws. I got mine in the uk solely based on the fact that I can’t carry anything else every day if the knife locks. I have others that never leave the house (gerber etc) which is a shame really. Seeing as criminals don’t care and carry what they want anyway.

It’s designed for the EU market where laws are more stringent when it comes to carrying bladed tools. For an American it makes no sense to EDC one but for a British it makes total sense and it’s legal.

The leatherman bond is even better now leatherman has updated the blade problem with a new blade now it opens and closes like a Swiss army knife its very nice indeed thanks 👍

They have reengineered the bond for 2024 addressing version 1 mistakes, not specifically made for European market was put out with the original tool set of the PST but upgraded quality, the PST would be Europe compliant anyway. Still need to buy a clip though. Detente on version 2 is much improved.

Needs to be a non locking blade below 3 inches in the uk

I wish they made it more like the PST ii and added scissors, as well as a diamond file. Other than that it's pretty nice.

In the UK locking blades and blades larger than three inches are illegal, so I have the bladeness Rebar, which means I had to carry a separate penknife (more weight). I purchased the Bond which fixes that problem for me. Also I got the bit holder and a few tools that fit over the Rebars' Philips screwdriver and these fit on the Bond too. I have the Wave, the Surge, the Skellatool and a couple more, all of which are illegal to carry, unless you have a valid reason. Like you use the tool in work you are carrying out, a fisherman, or going camping or bushcraft. Even then, if a Policeman doesn't agree with your reasons your tool will be confiscated and you will be charged with 'carrying an offensive weapon' or 'going equipped' to commit a crime. Both can lead to prison.

I think they need to make more tools like the bond and pst just change up the tools inside that's where they started. They are bulletproof & simple.

Id have really gotten the bond... Ot has great set of tools... But the internal knife and the lack of pocket clip is a deal breaker for me.

Your Bond is way to stiff. That is not normal. Send it back to Leatherman.
