I love skateboarding but there are some things that just suck

The community can be both good and bad, but it’s especially toxic on the internet :(

What are some things you hate about skateboarding?

As always my entire skate setup will be linked in the description.

Love you guys, keep shredding! 🖤

Toxic community is a big one. So many people get good at skating and see themselves as cooler than they really are and treat others like garbage. Skaters seem like either the most judgemental people or some of the most welcoming, cool people out there and there doesn't seem to be an in between

Don’t forget about those little pebbles on the road that send u and ur skateboard flying.

I hate being made fun of for not knowing a specific trick when i'm a BEGINNER. like dang I just started 2 weeks ago cut me some slack. And its mostly posers who make fun of me. I also hate people thinking they are cooler than others because they are more skilled and treat others like ants.

i bought myself a longboard 4 years ago and barely used it cause i thought people would judge me since i was new. i've finally been riding it consistently since a week ago and i'm so glad i got the courage to go around my neighborhood, trying to not care if i look dumb skating or not.

Idk man. In my experience, real skaters are incredibly genuine people. It’s people who want to look like skaters that are toxic. People who are super new to the sport or don’t actually participate are generally the ones that are the most critical of others. There’s a few oddball skaters who are really good and still toxic, but they seem pretty few and far between just from what I’ve experienced

Skating has taught me so much about myself I will always cherish it, & when I skate I skate for myself so I could care less what people think

I don’t really go to skateparks anymore because I always think I’m gonna get made fun of even though I’m still learning. I don’t understand why the community is so toxic to beginners like, we’ve all been a beginner at one point so why make fun of other beginners :(

Used to be way worse back in the day I grew up in philly and the skate turfs wars that would take place at locations like love park were down right ridiculous, believe it or not we're currently living in the healthiest time in skating history so far and videos like yours help to make the community a better place. 👍

Toxic community doesn’t exist for me, all the gents at my local skatepark know each other’s skill level so everyone supports everyone else fr

Yeah I feel that in my school kids call me a poser they say I’m not good at skating but I just kind of ignore it and do my own thing because every day a skateboard to school and this is why I love your YouTube shorts or whatever but thank you for being relatable

I really want to dive into the skating community and share love with everyone. I think they’re over judged by mostly untrue stereotypes and that ppl aspire their aesthetic more than they desire them as ppl. I want to be a good and reliable friend to a large group of skaters and teach them the values of love and respect (As well as fun). I’m only 18 but at the same time I feel I’m too old to JUST be starting. I’ll try my best! Your videos really inspire me to reach out to these other kids, dude!

As a beginner skater, your short vids have been very inspiring. Love your Apari decks, so sad they’re out of stock :(

I nearly quit coz of the last one ngl it puts me down but when I go out and do stuff on the board it just lifts my emotions so I think you shouldn't listen to other people lime that because they don't have the balls or dedication to do what you do :)

I'm a beginner but never been called a poser (yet) cause skateboarding is not really a huge thing in my country (btw i live in Malaysia). One thing i hate about skateboarding is people staring. Since skateboard is not really a huge thing in my country, it's very rare to see people skateboarding and there's not many skatepark. Since no skatepark is near my house, I usually just skate at my local park so whenever people see me skateboarding, they will just stare for a very long time. I find that very uncomfortable because 1) it's kinda rude to stare at people for a long time, 2)I'm a beginner so I'm not really good at skateboarding yet, what if I messed up and fall ? That would be really embarrassing for me :/ 3)I'm a girl so yeah its just worse :(

Skating is my "self care" thing, it makes me happy and gives me a reason to not lay in bed all day. However, it requires me being free in daylight on a dry day and having time to go out to the skatepark. Winter right now is hell. I feel like it's raining constantly, and then school started plus i have work, so i don't get the time to do my "self care" thing because I have no indoor skatepark that's open late on weekdays or at all on rainy days.
