I'm a big Sony fan, but this hits the spot.

Speaking as someone who spent years in software design and UX, this kind of stuff makes me insane. Especially something as simple as copy. All they had to do was contract a technical copywriter who could optimize copy for clarity. Would have been a tiny expenditure in the grand scheme of things.

Sony get all the hard stuff right and mess up on the easy bits 🥴

I love Sony cameras but yes those menu definitions are comical

Those menu definitions are hilarious 😂 how did those get the green light, it's baffling

it's ridiculous to me that Sony hasn't done a full touch screen. Like holy it together. Literally, just give the touch screen to their phone segment or whatever. How hard is it to implement good touch functionality?

4K/120 is the only reason we're buying this camera, so lots of people really like that feature even if you don't use it.

Your criticisms are spot on and also explain why this camera should be $2, 000 instead of $3, 500. Sony cameras are really expensive. They basically sell you a sensor with the very minimum materials around it needed to operate the camera. It's a Linux experience while Canon and Panasonic try to deliver an Apple experience.

I'm a Sony user and this video is so funny. 😂
And Yes Tony sounds like a guy who always complaining about camera but what he said here is true.
After all, Sony camera is all about RAW power, spec out camera or whatever you gonna call it.

Fair criticism. That replay function looks the same as on my 12yo Sony camcorder. However, on the old camcorder, there is a function setting to allow one button to "play last", maybe you can find that later

Being a Sony mirrorless user for 8 years, a (sometimes) workaround for those weird definitions (yes, they have been terrible for 8+ years) is to click forward, then define what “on” and “off” does. These sub menus sometimes give clearer definitions.

Well, apparently Sony menu still sucks.

The problem: FTP
The solution: carry a router with you that has a site to site VPN, plug a WAP on the LAN and FTP to your home NAS.
Simplicity at its best 👁👄👁

Some things, Canon just does better, but not many. Your R6 shoot camera is focus shifting just like a Sony A73. But the sensor cover issue is a real pain. Thank you for pointing that out!

You have to hit the rubbish button in the Sony menus to get more information? LMFAO!

Sony manuals are the worst. Please write the Dummy versions, Tony.

This video has put me back to square one, now I'll be looking at alternatives, thanks for the in-depth review.

"I want more background blur..." TONY NO!

"Let's look at the menu help comments..." *I cry in "Sony owner."*

The sensor not being automatically covered by the shutter is also a problem with Nikon Mirrorless - it's so frustrating that this isn't an option! I understand that the shutter is really delicate, but I have NEVER found a situation where I could have accidentally bumped the shutter if it was closed when the lens is detached. This issue with Sony and Nikon is almost enough for me to switch to Canon just so I don't have to clean my sensor so often lol!

I do want to say that the 4k 120 and 1080p 240 slow motion is one of the major things that would get me to consider the A7S III if it wasn't for the fact that I need a hybrid stills/video camera and not a video only camera. Slow motion allows me to capture footage of my travels with minimal time and effort so that I can get all the video I need without slowing down everyone who's travelling with me. When I upgrade from the Z6 better slow motion is a must for me.
