I think the biggest differences so far between my undergrad vs grad physics programs is:

1) Having to TA as a graduate student and all the work that comes with that.
2) Taking a comprehensive exam in grad school that determines whether or not you can advance to PhD candidacy.
3) Getting treated more as an equal in grad. school as in getting to call your profs. by their first name

I'm struggling with undergrad lol. Most of the time I feel like I need more practice not less. Not that I don't get the concepts, but I feel like I nail it down when I get more practice.

For me, the biggest difference was the professors assume we know a lot. I didn't take any formal classes in group theory during my physics undergrad but for groups and representation grad school class, the professors already assumes that I know everything automorphisms and endomorphisms. So I am always playing catching up. Oh and also the homework. It's way way harder and takes me a long time to finish them.

I just jumped from UG gen Physics (Algebra-based) and calculus into Cellular Biophysics and Imaging techniques. Oh boy was that a HARD shift into the abstraction as opposed to just plug and chug problems in the past! Took me days to do a few problems I prayed were in the right direction 😓

I took an intro grad class at Stanford in the summer and there was a TA, and I think he was near getting his PhD so I think it's those kinds of people

Grad school looks good, I wouldn't have uncovered that secret yesterday, now it will come to an end.
Soon.

my undergraduate astro program is taught on graduate level. Each homework problem sets take over 20 hours to complete. ANd when the professor misses any lecture due to travel, they would either add extra minutes before class or have evening make-up lectures. Let's just say we were not ready for this coming from high school. And only 30 of us remain now in the class which had started with 70 students during freshman year.

My intro Matlab professor let us vote on if we wanted weekly quizzes that would add up to an exam grade for the final or take a formal final exam. We voted the former bc personally I get test anxiety so knowing something's not worth as much and I'll have another chance in case I mess up is better for me. That was one of the strangest undergrad courses in terms of structure Ive taken yet.

I took this one higher-level undergraduate class in my senior year, and I was the only undergrad in the class.
