They tried to do this to me in New Jersey. It was an insurance scam. A car gets in front of you. another car gets behind you, the one in back starts tailgating you, to get you to speed up, then the one in front slams on his brakes to try to get you to rear end him. DIRTY CROOKS

Bump and run isn't new. This has been going on for decades. One of the best things you can do is LOCK your doors and leave plenty of room between you and the car in front of you, giving you room to escape. Another tip is to pay attention to who is driving around you. We all know who is committing most of the carjackings.

so I guess he thought I was a easy target.

I was driving a 79 Monte Carlo... brother's like them..
I gave it to my big brother after that incident..

All females should have a firearm,
And be trained to use it properly..

Get a trained guard dog, and bear mace...

One problem with newer cars is they unlock automatically when you put the transmission in park. I've gotten the habit of relocking them.

Concealed Carry. But you should have a lot of range time in, just having a firearm is not enough.

In some states its legal to shoot carjackers. Not Illinois though, obviously

The best thing to do to avoid a car jacking would be to stay away from certain groups of people. Get out of Chicago would be a good start.

If the cops want to give good advise, tell people to legally carry concealed. Carry a Glock, and train to use it properly.
