Goku getting through to Broly is genuinely one of my favorite moments in the series. I'm not a big fan of Super (at least pre-T.O.P) largely because of how it portrays Goku, but this moment makes me forget about all of that.

Ever since he tried and failed to spare Frieza, Goku's seemed to have a sense of whether or not he can help people be better. He had no problems with killing Cell or Buu because he knew they were both irredeemable monsters. He no longer overestimates his opponents' abilities to change or do good ever since Frieza. The reason he says what he says to Broly is because he knows for a fact, without a shadow of a doubt, that he isn't a bad person. And he knows this in the most Goku way possible.
