Men in Nursing and Nursing School?

Men in nursing and nursing school? Many viewers have asked me if there are any men in nursing school and how males are as nurses.

Therefore, I wanted to give my insight on this topic and encourage any males out there who are thinking about entering the nursing profession to do so.

Nursing is an amazing career with so many opportunities for both males and females. The number of men entering the nursing profession is rapidly increasing every year, which in turn means more and more males are in nursing school.

I am a male In nursing school and I love it. I have four more months left and I been watching your cardiac videos for class the last few days and I love them. I hated ob with a passion. I had absolutely no interest with that class. The only advantage of being a male in the nursing department is that you will almost guarantee a job because I heard from countless people who hire nurses/cna's is that men are needed for the heavy work. I been a cna for five years and all my bosses hired me on the spot because I was a male. That was with hospitals and nursing homes. You read my mind because a few hours ago I was thinking about men in nursing. I am the only man in my class btw

I'm a male nurse and we are HIGHLY sought after on every unit. I definitely fall into the hating OBGYN majority (was one of my worst subjects) and I could not get into it. I work in neuroscience/stroke med-surg and am loving all of my experiences. Find what you love in nursing school and I can almost guarantee, you will not have a problem finding a job in that area (seriously, YOU ARE WANTED!)

Hello. Thank you for the beautiful words.

Here in Brazil, about 20% of nursing is male. That's why men are growing considerably in the profession.

I chose nursing as a career because of work schedules and salary.

But since I was a student, I had already realized how wise my decision was!

Today I continue in nursing not because of work hours and salary, but because of the gratifying feeling of being able to help patients, contributing to their better health.

Some things really do not have value. And the best experience I had in my career was to provide the newborn. Awesome!

Male nursing student here. Definitely a low census of male nurses in OB but my L&D rotation has been one of the most fun clinicals so far. The female nurses on the OB floor are all super nice!

The only thing I can add to this is that some of the "old guard" don't like men as nurses but as Dylan said, "times, they are a changing".

Yes, I agree 100% that males can make wonderful nurses!! If I had to put a number on it..out of 200 selected nursing students in my cohort...there are at least 30-40 of them that are males. In my lecture class I had 4 or 5 male students and they made awesome classmates!!

Thanks for this video. I am 2 weeks into nursing school. I am a tall male Hispanic weightlifter. I pray I don't intimidate my patients too much :) I got both your books last week. They are already a lifesaver. Thank you for your dedication to our craft!!

I am a male getting ready to enter nursing school. I am interested in OB, but I feel that there is a "taboo" about hiring male nurses in that area. Thank you for the videos.

I am a retired nurse. I was recently in the hospital as a patient. I was so happy to see so many male nurses. I was told that the hospital was about a third male nurses. I had a wonderful male nurse take care of me:skillful and very empathetic. I even had a male student take care of me. I told him to watch your videos as even I found them very informative. Thank You for all you videos.

We have one male out of twenty students, but he embraces it and we love him. We always go to him when we have a big heavy duty job to be done and need a second person since he's completely ripped haha. He's an awesome nurse too.
