I am a male nurse having trained in the 80s I can totally relate to what is being described in this talk. If you are a man and you want to be a nurse go for it. It’s a great job there are lots of opportunities and you will get to meet lots of people ignore the gender stereotypes and go for it. Nursing needs more men.

I’m currently a wildland firefighter looking to make the shift into nursing. I’ve been a teacher previously and dealt with many of the same issues that you discussed. As a male who has worked in both heavily male and female dominated work forces, I welcome those challenges. I just want to have a better work-life balance while still providing for my family and doing a job I believe in.

Mens nurses are very excellent at their jobs. I know a lot of them here in Italy.

Great talk by a brillant nurse and teacher. It is so important that we challenge stereotypes! I would be incredibly proud if my Son decided to go into nursing!

All sounds rhetorically well until you deal with being marginalized on the daily.

Says he's proud to be a nurse but says men shouldn't be nurses? Eh?

I dunno, this bloke sounds like a bit of a snowflake. No wonder he's a nurse.
