I'm a Black American male nurse student! I love it! I'm @ Kaiser down here in the SoCal area, as a CNA! Keep doing you and I try to encourage any black man I see to go into nursing. We are definitely underrepresented. I haven't seen a black male nurse in my unit let alone my hospital yet! They are Africans, Filipinos, Asians, white, Indians, middle eastern, and the like, which is Kool but I feel lonely and sometimes feel like I don't belong! and trust me you have to know your shit, because "we" get looked @ different, bc of ppls perception of us! The eyes and stares I get, when I speak and interact with not only with staff, but patients and their families, is of shock to most! Never knew a brother had vocabulary and can express himself in a clear, intelligent way huh!??? lol. I love it!!

I’m considering nursing and I’m an African American male. I personally don’t care what anyone has to say I have a heart for helping people and getting them back to good health. Why do something because it’s considered a “ male career” and not have a passion for it, rather doing something because it’s not what people are use to and have a passion for it!. ALL NURSES ROCK!
