We had some broken tiles in our house and having never worked with tile before I had to learn all the steps as I went, check out the video to see what I got right and wrong, and hopefully to gain some confidence to try a project you've been putting off. Thanks so much for watching.

The most difficult part of this operation is finding matching tiles anywhere 10-15yrs after the original floor was laid..

Unfortunately those tiles probably broke because the original installer installed them directly onto your OSB subfloor. soon as any moisture gets under those it’s done. They Should’ve used tile backer. Nice job on the repairs though!

Awesome. Looks like you did a better job than who installed those tiles in the first place.

Side note: That tile cutter is a push to cut tool. You can push down on the cutting wheel harder and get a better scoring cut. Pushing the cutting wheel will place you all the way forward and all you have to do is lift up then push down and the presser foot will snap the tile.

I always found tiling walls to be an absolute breeze, but floors can be a real challenge.

Regardless, it is a really good feeling to have learned a new skill like this.

When I do tile I’m spoiled with a tile wet saw. You did a great job with the tools you had. Next time only score a couple times then press, saves the blade. We all have to step out of our comfort zone. What we accomplish can be pretty amazing

People saying it will crack again. They may be right but…as you said you do this once now next time you’ll have no anxiety about it and can tile a backsplash or think about other tile repairs. I’ve done some floor tile jobs and the repair you did is how I’d do it (maybe I’d use a thin set instead of premix although the premix can be floor rated). 👍
