I burned my house down completely. The tiles are still on the floor.

The method of heating and tapping with rubber hammer worked. I have a water leak under my slab. Had to remove 5 tiles that have been down for 10+years. Took time and patience but it worked. I used hot hair dryer. Tks

Worked like a charm. Four out of four tiles removed without a scratch.

Rather than using a burner, I used a hot air gun which enabled me to control the heat perfectly and take out the tiles just 2” from a bathroom closet without removing it 🤗

Thanks for sharing 🎉

I did exactly that many times and it works.
Some, of course, broke but most of them did not.

For the very specific application of removing tile and not destroying the piece, this is actually quite phenomenal.

Great, clear concise video and very useful technique. Also, 01:27 proves that it's even easier if you get Benny Hill to do the work for you 😀

Dang, I installed ceramic tile for 43 years and didn’t have a clue about this technique. I am amazed!

I thought I would try this. After finishing my shower, I was installing the trims and found out the valves were plumbed wrong. Since I couldn't get to the plumbing from the back, I had to remove 5-36 x 24 tiles. I just used a propane plumbing torch after removing the grout. 2 tiles broke in small chunks but by and large all 5 tiles came off the wall with a little prying. I had no intention of saving and reusing the tile so it's a win for me. I didn't have to beat the wall with a hammer.

Im just curious. Why did the tile have to come off? Was it just not level and had space underneath that needed to be filled?
