Had the same problem. Found a web page for troubleshooting my refrigerator and isolated the problem to the heater. Once removed, it was obvious. One end was all charred and the ceramic was starting to crumble. Found a replacement on Amazon for $13.50. Paid an extra $4 for next day shipping and got it before 9:00am, and on a Saturday, no less.

Having a second refrigerator in the garage made things so much easier to manage. Doing it all myself saved us at least $200, likely more.

Good video. Good job. Suggestion to unplug refrigerator power cord from wall receptacle. Never trust a cheap switch too spare your life.😊

Great video. Where's the best place to buy the part from for a Frigidaire side by side like on this video

You also use a regular hair drier instead using a heater that can damage the plastic. Never use an screwdriver to remove ice from the coil because you can pinch the coil and will be more more costly. Defrost the evap and the panel before trying to id what's wrong. Never pull wire the way you did.

hi I'm having similar issues with my Frigidaire refrigerator. the freezer seems to be doing its job by keeping the freezer cool although the refrigerator is freezing up my liquids to solids and the reading temperature is 0°F in the freezer and 59°F in the fridge. I don't think that isn't correct temperature reading. can you help me finding how I can trouble shoot this problem? I'd appreciate it. thanks in advance.

The defrost timer could have stalled on this thing...I first advance the timer into the defrost mode.If the heater comes on-there's your problem.Replace it, defrost the coil, done.

to determine it was the heater, did you first check the defrost timer? or would you simply suspect the heater.

Nice video, it would have been helpful to see and hear the new heater coil having continuity.

Great educative video. I have a Samsung side by side. Only half of my evaporator is frosting. The other half has not cooling which is affecting the cooling in the fridge section(43 degrees). The freezer section on the other hand works fine. What could be the cause? Thanks.

A Bayco 26watt droplight  is a good companion you might want to consider. Can't hardly see the process especially at top where the defrost thermostat is.

I probably would of check the new heater before putting it back together just to be safe

my top freezer works great, but my bottom cooler gets bogged down from built up "snow", so every third or fourth day I just shut off my fridge...

I am very frustrated this has happened twice in a month and I lost $316 in groceries .Is it a normal repair for a repair man to manually defrost the freezer twice in a month by taking it out side and using a water hose with warm water to melt heavy ice not snow but thick ice on the coils my fridge was again at 60 and the freezer was not freezing our ice cream melted we are scared that we would have spoiled food and get sick again is this a quick fix ment to last or is manually defrosting the thick ice on the coils with a water hose twice in a month a normal standard of repairs? It totally sucks to have gone threw this warm fridge and cold but not freezing freezer issue and told this is standard practice the freezer only had ice cream in it and the refridge had little food inside it because we did not want to have our food spoiled again

A heat gun works great for defrosting frozen coils.

I'm sorry i just can't resist but  i try not to break the ice using the tip of screwdriver cause if i miss my aim i'll puncture the evaporator line and have one helluva pissed customer. I carry weird things in my car like wooden spatula to scrape and plastic chopstick as an  ice pick. You can go ahead and laugh!

HOT HOT WATER in a bug sprayer will cut through that ice 10x faster!
