WARNING: If this is your first time playing this game, remember to indicate to your family, friends and colleagues at work that you will be inaccessible for, at the very least, two weeks. This game *will* became your life.

I got this on launch on PC and I was really surprised how good of a port it is.
It also has my new favorite feature where you can set different ui buttons for your controller depending what you play. Way to many games force me to use xbox buttons while using a playstation controller.

About 45 hours in, playing on Series X through Gamepass. Music is amazing. I can't stop playing it or thinking about it. Been a while since I've played a game 8-10 hours straight. I highly recommend it, especially if your a JRPG fan.

Persona 5 does actually have antialiasing - only on PS3 where it supported MLAA running on the Cell SPUs. Again points to the PS4 version not being the most optimised port, which has impacted other versions since.

I'm currently 100 hours into it on the PC, and having so much fun messing around with Persona combinations. One of the greatest JRPG's I've ever played without a doubt. I've also just recently bought an LG C1 so with the OLED, it looks fantastic.

Been playing it on Switch and honestly the little details between it and the PS4 versions are negligible for me. It plays and runs the same way for me and since I have had some busy weeks, it feels so great to just play the game in short bursts on handheld mode. The game just fits right in on Nintendo Switch IMO.

For anybody watching today. If you homebrew your switch, you can get the 720p/1080p mod which works flawlessly without any dropped frames 99% of the time. Only the final boss and challenge fights drop frames to around 25dfps which can be fixed with a slight cpu overclock

was waiting for this review ever since the game rereleased, didn't expect for you all to cover every port, well done!

The OLED will certainly make the game's colours look a lot better. However, having the option to switch between 1440p 120fps on PC to Portable 60fps* on Deck is absolutely amazing.

P5R on Switch might be the way I replay the game from now on. I got into Persona in the early 2010's with P3P on PSP and P4G on Vita so finally being able to play P5 in bed is just great for the way I've always played these games. Its been my commute game while I'm on the train to university and both aspects of the game really lend themselves to the way I use my Switch

I usually hate non-native resolution on Switch and I don't really understand why a technically simple game like Persona 5 has to be downscaled. But still, I don't really notice the downscaling in handheld mode that much (much less than in other games!). The cartoon look doesn't lose that much with the upscaled low rendering resolution. I also played the PS4 version but the long dungeon sequences with its many fights made me put it away early. With the Switch I can play for 15 minutes, put it away and continue later on very easily. That outweights the minor issues with the resolution by far for me.

Was going to compliment your choice of background music but I forgot that every music in the game is a banger. Excellent video still!

Note: Ports of P5R is not made internally by either ATLUS or P-Studio but by SEGA Japan CS2 or part of the Sonic Team.

I played the switch oled version past kamoshida's palace and I didn't even care or really notice the performance
It's an amazing way to experience the game

12:00 - This framerate drop still happens even on more powerful systems.
I have a PC with a 3060 Ti / i7-4790 / 16GB DDR3 and a laptop with a 3060 (90W) / R5 5600H / 16GB DDR4. It occurs on BOTH of those machines.
Changing the graphics options makes no difference to the FPS.

Playing this game for the first time on Switch, love it

Really sad that ATLUS is taking a poor stance and not offering any discounts to owners of the previous Persona 5/Persona 5 Royal versions. Shows how much greedy they are.

I feel like the Series S must be a bit underutilized compared to the other console versions… If the PS4 pro can run this at full 4k/30fps, I’d expect a 1440p count when targeting 60fps on the Series S, considering they have near equal raw gpu power. Still a great game and I appreciate the last gen coverage!

As for the visual cutback:

1. It's not that big of a deal. The game still looks nice and it retains its identity. 810/540p are fairly standard resolutions for NSW ports. FF XII runs like that and everybody seemed happy about it.

2. P5R on my og 2017 Switch with max brightness and airplane mode off gets like 3h 50m of playtime. Turning brightness to half makes it reach 4h. For Switch Lite that would be like 5h 30min and for V2 and OLED we look at 6h +. I don't know guys, if this is the visual quality needed to play outside for that long, I'm all in about it.

I've been playing on my Steam Deck and I've had an amazing experience with specific settings. In the game properties on SteamOS before launching the game, I forced the game to run on Proton Experimental and set gamescope to force 1440p on the internal display which fixes the blocky UI issue since it'll downscale (Edit: I found out I was having blocky UI because half-rate shading was on. I still recommend doing this though because 1440p UI downscaled still looks better). In game, set FPS limit to 60 and rendering resolution to 50% to match the screen's native resolution, and in the Deck performance options setting the screen refresh rate to 40hz and FPS cap to 40. It's way smoother than the 30fps lock and none of the game's framedrops go under 40 anyway so it's hard locked 100% of the time.
