Idk if people don't already know this but maybe they don't. At least is something useful to help someone out with.
The hard part is knowing when someone says something like that, are they not sure how to reply or do they not want to talk to me?

Some people are absolutely immune no matter how hard I try to wreck a conversation because those don't work for me. You need to give better examples because everyone uses "that's crazy".
