Lack of research doesn't mean something doesn't work.

There are studies. One from Northwestern U showed 20 weeks of face yoga resulted in participants looking on average 3 years younger. Face yoga is fantastic for sagging. If course drs wouldn’t get all the $$ from botox, fillers, and plastic surgery if everyone did face yoga, so they aren’t usually fans.

I have been a Holistic Master Esthetician for almost 4 decades and facial exercises work! I am almost 57 and I have never injected my face or had a procedure. I have never used procedures or injections on our clients. We have 42 muscles in our face and 43 with our neck and you work them or lose them. I have Before& Afters that prove it.
Happy Thanksgiving Andrea and everyone 🧡🍑🙌🏻Lisa

It does work and in just a week. I noticed so much of difference in my face a week after i started face exercises.

Let's face it, the physical body "looks" a lot better when it is exercised. People who exercise have lovely toned muscles. Why would muscles in the face be so different? It works. And honestly, you could benefit from trying it. I challenge you to 30 days, I bet you'll be hooked.

Dr Dray, facial exercises can't fix any skin issues. It is mainly targets the muscles underneath the skin, which by the way are quite different from the muscles on the body. Muscles in the face are very small and are attached to the tissues and fascia of the skin. They are meant for facial expressions and chewing, whereas the muscles on the body are attached to the bones and ligaments, which help you to move your body. However there are certain muscles which aren't usually used often such as Zigamaticus minor and major ( cheek muscles) and obicularis oculi (eye muscles). These are weak muscles. Face exercises target these weaker muscles for toning and reduce wrinkles and saggy skin to create a more youthful appearance, because when these muscles in the cheeks and around the eyes are weak, the skin tends to sag and make the face look older. Face exercises also emphasises relaxation for "overworked" muscles such as the forehead muscle and jaw muscles, which hold hold a lot of tension from chewing and repetitive expression habits. This can create expression lines and wrinkles. Although you may not have considered it body posture and something called resting oral posture which we call "tongue" posture or "Mewing" is also important for our health and appearance. It's called Mewing because it's named after a doctor who specialises in orthodontics. His name is Dr Mike Mew. He promotes the concept of resting tongue posture, which the tongue is placed on the upper palate when face is relaxing, e.g not chewing, speaking and smiling. This position is supposed to be maintained all the time except from when you are eating and talking. This has advantages for structure and growth of your skull, as well as a better more attractive face.

Sorry for the long comment. Of course I appreciate all of the info you post on your channel and I learned a lot about skincare. I am also learning a lot from other YouTubers.

While there isn't a ton of research out there, the research that has been done on facial exercises has been promising. Sources include: Effects of Facial Exercise for Facial Muscle Strengthening and Rejuvenation (JAMA Dermatology 2018), Systematic Review Association of Facial Exercise With the Appearance of Aging Dankook University, Cheonan, Republic of Korea) The issue is that raising funding for clinical trials has been difficult. It's not hard to imagine why that is. An approach like this threatens multiple billion dollar industries. 💉 Before and afters + personal experience alone is enough for me to take 10 minutes out of my day to achieve anti-aging benefits.

Well if there’s a lack of study in this area you can chalk it up to big corporations not benefiting from this since there’s nothing to sell or perhaps there’s truly no real benefit to this because the few papers done on this show bad results leading to no further scientific research. So not all lack of scientific evidence means things don’t work. If working out any part of your body until it atrophies and you accompany it with good rest and diet and it leads to toned muscles then surely the facial muscles can be toned too. Bruxism causes bigger maseters and larger looking cheeks and that’s involuntary

My dear, if exercising *correctly and reguraly* a muscle is not gonna do anything, you can quit exercising your body tomorrow and it will remain tonified forever, right?

Do lack of studies = lack of efficacy though?

I am 54 and it does work very well, to reduce a double chin and improve the jawline, for example. The thing is, when you don't do your exercises, it comes back.

Yes they work!! Been doing them for 20 plus years and no one believes I'm 68. It stands to reason that if you work the muscles of the face it will keep your face looking a lot younger. It's relaxing and I do it 3 times a week for maintenance. Creams can only do so much for wrinkles but to prevent sagging skin keeping thos facial muscles firm through exercise an make a HUGE difference!

When I was a teenager I kinda had a double chin, could be that I was slightly fat but I don't think so. I did a facial exercise that someone told me where you make fish faces. Apparently it helps with double chin and round face. It did work. Within a year my double chin was gone, my face had slightly slimmed down. It wasn't a huge change plus I got prettier in my 20s as I grew into my face but I do think they helped.

What people don’t realize about this dermatologist is that she’s a dermatologist. Not an esthetician or facerobics instructor. She only knows how to treat skin disorders and issues like eczema. You go to her when you have a weird bump that might be cancer. That’s it. She’s also the same lady who says you don’t need to wash your arms or legs in the shower. Again, that’s if you have psoriasis or eczema. She knows little about other treatments or procedures. Just because she has a sticker that says “dermatologist” doesn’t mean she’s knowledgeable about other things. Especially not about holistics. Do whatever you want and don’t listen to everything she says.

I’m 48yrs old and I’ve been doing facial exercises for years on and off - they do work. You age gracefully and people genuinely think I’m early 30s
