Boxing builds footwork and agility that translates to other sports. Plus the confidence boxing builds is phenomenal.

Boxing pushes your body to the limit and I'm addicted to that high. I train at America's Top Team Asheville, NC and I love that rush!!!🥊💯

There's something about BOXING that sucked me in. LOVE IT! And I love that in the gym it looks like everybody forgets about the whole world and is so Focused (especially when sparring) and Passionate!

Loved the video. Honestly I believe we shouldn’t be limited just to one martial arts. Everybody should try to learn the various aspects of all fighting because all of it is relevant (bjj, boxing, Muay Thai etc.) . I’m glad you made this video. Wasn’t so much of putting other martial arts down but highlighting the love you have for the sweet science.

Every child at least by the time they turn five or six, needs to know how to block and deflect jabs to the face, head and body, straight rights to the face, head and body, left and right hooks to the face, head and body and haymakers to the face and head.

For starters, this might even be more important than learning boxing punches.

In my opinion, to be the best fist fighter you can be, you need boxing as your base, muay thai clinches, old timey bareknuckle boxing techniques, hand techniques from muay thai, wing chun, kali, karate, tiger kung fu, praying mantis kung fu (pretty much just the mantis claw), silat and JKD (eye pokes and eye slaps). You need to know some standup wrestling holds (like the guillotine choke, rear naked choke). You need to know how to defend against every kind of kick and wrestling takedowns.

Not to mention: As supercicial as it is For being in shape and such Boxers are usually more aesthetically pleasing. It's rare to see a champion boxer without lean abs.

I'm thinking to start for self-defence reasons. I also play another sport but, boxing looks too fun not too start!

Johnny, as a trainer and someone who has been in boxing and martial arts for over 42yrs, I agree with you about the seriousness that you will tend find in a boxing gym...However, there are exceptions to this and Ive been in boxing gyms where the students were lax, Not serious, and not applying themselves at all...It makes my heart sad to see this when you are there to help these guys, offer good mittwork, advice, sparring and drills and they blow it off...Ive been in so many gyms over the yrs that ive seen all types...yes there are very serious boxing gyms where as soon as you walk thru the door, you feel the intensity, the earnestness and one pointed dedication of those guys training...While boxing gyms seem to have this quality about them, there are exceptions and same is true for martial arts dojos... some are dead serious and some are almost there to be a family get together and not focused on serious combat skill....Go to the east and you would find dojos every bit as serious as the best boxing gyms... it all depends... A truly dedicated student with passion for their craft is truly rare and is the most prized and special find to a good trainer....

Boxing is definitely a great sport with a lot of benefits like you mentioned. However, there is one downside to it which scares me a lot, and that is the possibility of brain damage from getting hit in the head too hard! I would love to see you respond to it bro. Thanks in advance.

I can see Johnny is slowly transforming into Mr.Miyagi over the years. Maybe without the cryptic instructions "Wax on. Wax off".

Problem for me in bjj is we warm up, then they show 1 tecnique that take 5-8min, after that we drill it, I can sometimes zone out during drill because vi are usually on knee/ sitting and its like the brain doesn't get enough blood, comparing to old school boxing warm ups

Hello Johnny. Do you think that there is the age limit to start a boxing training, on an amateur level. Just training and sparring. I never liked the boxing before, but after watching your videos, i started to like it. I am 36 years old 😀😀😀😀

I used to box for a few lessons but I recall not really liking the people whom I boxed with, you know your typical "tough guy". What should I do?
