Due to my smartphone addiction, I started using a dumbphone for my mental health.
I've written books and videos about my experience.
I think digital detox is necessary worldwide.
I'm excited to hear that dumbphones are experiencing a resurgence overseas.
I hope there will be more simple phones like this!

Fab video and conversation as always. I really miss the individuality that our old phones gave. Everyone had a phone back in the day that met their vibe and I think that’s so cool. They also just served way harder, My gay ass wanted nothing more than that pink Motorola Razr flip phone and it still serves to this day.

I've also found it really hard to find a new phone. I had an iPhone 8 but I started to get fed up with all the apple bullshit and decided it's time for a new phone. I kinda want a "dumbphone" and was seriously considering KaiOS phones. For a reason I can't recall anymore I ditched that idea. One of the main criteria for me in a phone is that it needs to have whatsapp compatibility so some of the older actual dumbphones are unfortunately a no no.

Ended up buying a Samsung xcover 5 because I despise huge phones and can't stand a phone with no bezels. It was the best option I found and fairly priced. I also like to take lots of photos of stuff I randomly encounter, so a decent camera is really a must. Carrying around a digicamera is too much of a hassle.

It’s my 6th day using a dumb phone and to be honest I have done this as I’m so tired from social media I use BlackBerry and found my self that enjoy the world 🌍 more then before

Have you tried android e-ink phone? It works pretty good as a dumb phone, and not as addicting

Buying a "dumbphone" does have a potential huge downside though: _many cellphone carriers no longer have active 2G (and increasingly 3G) digital cellular networks_ . That means older "dumbphones" will be useless with your carrier. You will need to get a phone that supports Voice over LTE (VoLTE), which means it will work with the current 4G/5G digital cellular networks most carriers use nowadays.

Just because a smartphone has features that make it “smart” you don’t have to use them all. You can make your phone dumb. Just takes self control and discipline. You can stick with a iPhone SE then pair it with an Apple Watch then leave your phone at home. You’ll have your small screen. Can still see pics and videos from family. Still text and call. No crazy app notifications if you set your focus profiles properly.
