Ive started journaling since I was thirteen. It wasn’t about random feeling or events that took place in my life, but about specific life experiences and meditations and lessons that I’ve experienced. I would never take an experience for granted, never a day wasted. I would filter out the things I could take out of the day and turn it into a lesson, so the next day could be brighter. When I do eventually have children, i plan to pass my stories that ive learnt and written, the lessons that ive learnt to them In hopes that they become better than I am.

Honestly, when I would go back to my old journals I’d just see how far I had come. The nonsense that use to be important or in my thoughts or happening in my life… the thoughts that I once thought were profound seemed elementary to me. I’ve grown and developed past them. It was freeing when I got rid of my old journals. I could let go of the idea that there were good ideas stored in them because I knew that all my best ideas thus far are in the present, not in the past.

YES!! FINALLY - a video that goes into depth and gives specifics!! Not all of us grew up in a household where their parents knew these kinds of things and taught them throughout childhood and teen hood. I can't begin to tell you how many times I've watched 5, 10, & 15 minute videos on this topic that ended up telling me nothing - I got to the end and still had questions... Thank you for taking the time to do a longer video on this!

I am a big YouTube podcast fan and love to listen as I chop my veggies or clean or whatever … your podcast definitely one of my favorites! I do journal and have for maybe 30 years. I do different ways at different times but my two all time favorite ways to journal are: (1) Gratitude Journal… end of day or early morning write down at least 5 things you are grateful for or that went really well that day! Often you cannot stop at 5… TRUE! (2) Love love LOVE the new ARC SYSTEM or Dot Journaling where you can easily move pages anywhere you want. It’s a life changer as you end up keeping track of lots of things maybe you wouldn’t normally journal but SHOULD? Like house improvements, quotes, ideas… I have a Brainstorming section etc etc.
Maybe if you sell a lot of your journals you can offer a cheaper but nice quality vegan journal cover for we vegetarians? Lol thx!

I journal usually in the morning, but any other time that I have something to say. Thanks for making great content.

BTW: I have built the tendency to watch only part of a video and then leave halfway, this is a great one to start the practice of watching until the very end. It's amazing what I could be missing in the last 3 mins of a video.

I have these two gorgeous journals that I was afraid to write in. But if I don’t they’ll just sit there and I’ll miss logging all of these invaluable moments. I love looking back and reading something I had completely forgotten. Sometimes the entry wasn’t as poignant in the moment as it is now. Thank you for this video.

I feel naked without my journal.. I write in it like it's my best friend.

I've always been into journaling. As a writer, it comes naturally to me. The best thing about it, without a doubt, is to be able to read back on my life 10, 15, 20 years ago. Without the journal, I'd've forgot over 95% of what happened. But reading the old entries, brings it all back. It's like having a map to your memories. I never read my old stories, or of course, the tech writing I did, or any of the journalism I did for years, but often I'll go back to my private journal, and read back on today minus 10 years and see how much changed. Highly recommended practice!

I literally woke up this morning telling myself I need to get back into journaling but also thought I'm not really sure how to do it efficiently. Then this video pops up. Crazy! What a nice gift!

I have been journaling since the 1970s. I journal everything everyday. To be more at peace and happy I always journal at least 3 things that have made me happy or brought me peace. Gratitude journaling is very rewarding.

I started journaling when i was in a shelter. The simple act saved me from being kicked out. I was in an environment that I had no control over and when I journaled, I was able to put any issue away and move on.

Thanks for this!
I journal to process shadow material and emotionally messy issues.
I think it can be overrated as a tool that has big payoffs. Keep it simple: It keeps my "concerns" in the open until they are resolved or determined unimportant... That's enough.. Affirming the "truth" is the biggest benefit.
Incidental rambling clears my head! Often it opens me to concerns that I must suffer through in order to process, resolve, and integrate- not always pleasant ("work out your own salvation with fear and trembling").
When I fill up a 89 cent journal book, I throw it away.
Thanks for this!!
