I used to write on sticky notes and put them in my Bible. Not only with notes as you've described but also to say, "This stood out to me when I was struggling with physical pain." and a date. I still do that. But now instead of putting notes about Agrippa or themes, etc., in my Bible (or in addition to highlighting in my Bible) I also have a word document saved on a flashdrive where I keeps notes about topics: Colossians, discipline, legalism, to name a few. The benefits of this include: (1) I can highlight, bold, and change font and (2) when I come back later I can do a word search and word will highlight all of the places I've written "Pharisees" for instance. I learned in college that highlighting alone just means that over time everything is highlighted, and that doesn't help! :)

I’ve only been bible journaling for the last month or so, and I naturally have taken my bible notes just like you suggested. I didn’t look up how to do bible journal notes, your strategy just made sense to me. I saw this video AFTER I started taking notes like this

I asked hubby to buy me a new Journaling Bible because my current 1 contains my bad eisegesis 🙈, highlighted text (so much color, in so many places, with NO notes), a few "pretty pages" for arts sake 🙈.. this current journal Bible is a literal Testament to my growth as a Christian.. it contains good notes (as I've learned from you), cross references, Strongs definitions, etc but also ALL my newbie mistakes 🙈🙈 very embarrassing! So I'm gonna start fresh and hold onto all your tips and the tips from the wonderful viewers who've left helpful comments..

Now my next question (although I watched your 'sermon notes' video yesterday 😬), what's the difference between sermon notes and Bible study notes? 🙈 I'll continue to binge your channel, hoping I'll find the answer in 1 of your videos 😉

Keeping you, pastor Joe and the boys in my prayers
❤️ love from South Korea

Talk about timing! I've been questioning if the notes I take are doing any good. You just answered some of my own questions. Thanks!

Thank you for putting this together. I’m totally new to Bible journaling. So I have a small faith notebook I use as an “introduction” but I don’t feel like it’s enough. I’m new to Bible journaling but not new to the Bible. So when I read I have a verse or a scriptural reference in my head but I have a hard time writing in my Bible. 🥴 so it’s nice to see your videos & know that this ol’ Catholic school girl won’t go to hell for writing in my Bible! ❤️

Expository sermons are the exception. A pastor I follow on YT teaches through the Bible. Pastor Paul at Calvary Chapel Ontario is like a walking commentary.

This is a great video!

Agh! I totally get it now!! I've been highlighting for the most part, and when I do write something I seem to just write thanks to the Lord for either doing what it said or for showing me what I read. I can't see that helping me later! Thanks so much Faith!

This is what I appreciate about the Bible app and the verse of the day and the Bible verse story of the day and guided prayer. I've only gotten back into my Bible the last 7 days but in the last 3 days have I started noting verses from the story that pop out to me about that verse.

Oh thank you. God has just answered me. I always write down notes ie underline them, but love journaling idea. I’m very crafty and love creating cards etc so I know now where I have to go. Thank you🙏

This is what I do. I love having notes in my bible. I will not likely look at an old notebook but I love going threw my older bibles. And it easier to find what your looking for. My husband grandparents had passed away and we got 2 of their bible. And all they did was highlight in them. No written notes or anything. Dont get me wrong I love the bibles and they are cherished but it would be so nice to have a few hand written notes explaining why they highlighted the passage. So this is how I study. Lots of notes and colored pens and highlighting. People could look at my bible and say wow that looks crazy but I laugh and say that's how my brain works so its understandable that my bible would look like that too. But if you pick it up you can see that there is marking system that I do. So it's not totally chaotic 😁.

Great video, so clear and helpful. My tip? Logos Bible Software! I automatically started taking actual notes and not highlighting, and i put tags on my notes and i can "anchor" the note to multiple references and dont have to rewrite. All notes are searchable so you wont wonder where you wrote that one note down again!

Thank you!! This is helpful in remembering what I am writing or journaling in my Bible!! While I’m journaling also I ask myself will this help my boys and their children when my Bible is one day passed down!! Hey Faith I also have been using the set of Vernon McGee commentaries which I love love!! I have also ordered off eBay some of the books you have mentioned! Thank you for all of the helps!!

Hi, Faith! I just happened upon your channel today, and I enjoyed learning about how you use personal tabs to keep track of things you want to remember. It’s such a great idea, and one I never would have thought of…thank you! 😊
