Omg this entire time, I thought I was playing this game "wrong" and I wasn't a "real gamer" because this supposedly easy game was just way to challenging and overwhelming from the start for me. Now I know I just gotta play it MY way

This is exactly why Breath of the Wild is one of the best games of all time. Everyone from casual/cozy gamers, to completionists, roleplayers, combat specialists, speedrunners and mod geniuses can get what they want from this game. It's really neat to understand each perspective and see how people play the game differently.

i have hundreds of hours and pretty much only play the cozy and casual way haha <3

even after so long, exploring is still my favorite thing to do!

This was my first Legend of Zelda game, I decided to play it because I remember my mom taking me to comic-con years ago around the time Breath of the Wild came out and she told me after seeing a flyer for the game how she remembered playing it with her cousin and how she remembers always wishing to have a turn because he would hog it and I remember it being a very fond memory for me because my mom has always supported my love and creativity when it came to video games even if she was never much of a gamer herself so hearing her play a game that is still popular today made me want to try it to connect her however when I finally gave in to play it around a year or so ago I found it way too stressful. It threw you straight into combat and the enemies were pretty hard to beat at first and I got lost way to easily and the little direction you were given wasn't helpful. I gave up after not being able to find any of the towers needed for a zipline of some kind I think it was?? However I want to give it another try even though combat focused games were never quite my style. I really want to like and enjoy this game, so I hope this guide helps! :D

My favourite part of BOTW is taming horses and finding all the special ones 😅

I only played botw because I saw you could get horses 🐴 I was exclusively a cozy gamer but I did the opposite of what was cozy and it’s actually the most fun I’ve had with a game! I didn’t even know how to move the camera and walk at the same time 😭 The first thing I did was see apples in a tree and try to climb and get them, I was so happy to find out I could. And then I just had to explore the forest before I did anything else! But because I’d gone off track the first monster I saw was one of those giants 🙈 I was terrified!!! I only had a stick! I nearly quit but thankfully my partner persuaded me not to.

I got straight into trouble when I finally finished the tutorial area too. I’d spotted horses over the wall so instead of gliding where you should I went and glided onto a horse’s back. I was so happy until I realised the area was much too difficult for me. Then my partner told me I had to get my horse safely to a stable to be able to keep it! So I was trying to tame the horse while running for our lives!!! And still struggling with the controls 🤣 Somehow we made it 🥹 If you can follow instructions it’s much less chaotic. But surprisingly I loved the confusion and excitement and wish I could experience it again!

Now I’m pretty good at killing enemies before they spot me so it’s much cozier. I LOVE the koroks 🌱 My partner and I joke that we have the same mind. Maybe it’s the adhd? I never look for koroks intentionally but I find them everywhere!!! It’s one of my favourite parts of the game too 😊 And I love foraging! I loved this video so much and it was the perfect excuse to ramble about all this 💕

This was me 3 yr ago when I played it for a week then wanted to cry. Never picked it up since and I’m really bad at bosses. I may pick it up again after watching this 😊

Thank you for putting together all of these tips! I grew up playing Zelda games, but BotW has been a bit daunting. I got up to the point where they suggest you get shock arrows before the Vah Ruta boss fight, beat the Lynel (which felt like a miracle), but still felt like I needed more arrows before going back to battle. Now it's been months since I picked it up and I think exploring more of these quest will help me get back into it.

This video is so great! I’ve had BOTW for almost a year but I get so anxious playing because it seems so hard. You make me want to pick up the game again 🙌🏾

I bought botw months ago because you suggested it as a cozy game but was too anxious to start. I loaded it and am going to start tonight. Thank you for the tips

I am soooo glad that I'm not alone in finding the game overwhelming HAHA When I first started BOTW, I was definitely not used to it at all. My all time fav has always been Ocarina of Time and I really like those little hints of where I'm suppose to go and I know BOTW is not like that as you are definitely way more free to do as you like. So I'm super grateful of this little guide, thank you Kat! Little question: When increasing health/stamina, which order do you all usually go first? I'm on the verge of restarting my game just because I've been so lost and felt myself detached of the game because I have no clue what I'm doing.. so knowing if I'm suppose to focus on increasing stamina first or health would help a lot T_T

I'll give it another shot for you. At the time that I'm writing this the game definitely feels overwhelming. I'll get back to this comment when I feel like the game is amazing

Thank you so much for posting this! I picked up the game a few times, assuming I’d need to get past the stressful bits before it got more cosy. But was starting to wonder if I would ever get to that point. Now I finally feel like I know how to make it more fun the next time I pick it up 🙂

I thought I was the only one overwhelmed. Absolutely love this game but I gave up when I got to the memoir photographs… I really don’t know where to start! Should I start over or just pick up from here? Any tips on finding the photos??

I beat the whole game before finding a single memory. I can't find them 😞

actually there is a sort of exp system the more you beat enemies the better weapons you can get in chests and from mobs

Hi, I wish you had included chapters or at least time stamps if you explicitly say "to avoid spoilers skip this chapter", where starts the next chapter though? I think that'd be useful in a future video :)
