From someone who has now completed 90 percent of my level one kundalini yoga aquarian 3ho KRI teacher training, this is NOT "Breath of Fire". Breath of Fire as we are taught is a rapid conscious EXHALATION through both nostrils (where the Navel point - 2-3 fingers below the belly button/navel is pulled in with medium force) followed by an equal but automatic INHALATION that happens by itself. It can done in many postures, with different mudras. Begin by putting one hand on your chest and the other on your belly. Exhale slowly to begin but forcefully through your nostrils while pulling the navel point in. Get a feel for how this movement feels and how to let the belly relax so it effortlessly inflates back on the "automatic" inhale. Pay attention to how the movement is at your navel point below your belly button, not a pumping in of the chest as people who do paradoxical breathing (breathing with the belly contracting in on the inhale) often do mistakenly when learning this. You want to focus on deep yogic diaphragm breathing before learning pranayams like the Breath of Fire because the deep yogic breath teaches your body to effortlessly inflate and push out the belly on the inhale and to pull in the belly on the exhale. This helps immensely when you get to learning Breath of Fire. Start slow with Breath of Fire to get a feel for the correct balance of the exhale and inhale. BOTH are done through the nostrils (both nostrils) then slowly increase the speed but do not pull the belly in as hard and as tight as you can, it is a medium force pulling in of the belly and then a medium relaxation back of the belly out on the automatic inhale. If you get dizzy/light headed, stop and take a few normal breaths then continue when you are feeling ok to continue. Your body will find the right balance soon enough where you will be able to rapidly do this breath for minutes at a time without feeling extremely fatigued or light headed.🙏. Sat Nam

He is breathing correctly. True Bhastrika does not involve belly breathing. The idea is to expand your rib cage and lungs and other organs to the sides by pushing up, and that is why it looks like this. Most videos on YouTube are either vague or assume it should be belly breathing, or they just do not demonstrate properly by showing the inhale with shirt off.
