In a heated exchange during the July 30th hearing, Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) pressed Secret Service acting Director Ronald Rowe Jr. about the number of agents working Donald Trump's Butler, Pennsylvania, rally. The joint hearing of the Senate Homeland Security and Senate Judiciary Committee was the latest to examine what investigators have learned about the shooter who attempted to assassinate Trump at a Pennsylvania campaign rally, as well as the security failures that preceded the deadly shooting. Rowe, who since 2023 had been serving as deputy director of the Secret Service, was appointed acting director after Kimberly Cheatle’s resignation.

This guy is so rude . The way he responds to senator cruz shows a lot of arrogance for his part

It's indefensible that that anyone on the senior staff of any government organization cannot speak extemporaneously in detail on any major topic, or for a congressional hearing, doesn't have staff with them to field detailed questions. This topic requires a completely independent investigation by a team that isn't associated with the SS or FBI.

From the behaviour of these folks, they may be hiding something

They are not investigating anything. They are working overtime to get everything covered up. This guy reminds me of the Director of Homeland Security. He's just as arrogant and self centered.

No one asks the big question 😢, how did the shooter know that he was going to be alone on that roof?

How does someone not know whether they approved something or not. I've been in high-level management. For an issue getting this much attention, everything would receive the highest level of attention and approval. So either the SS is incompetent or they were complicit.

Everyone take a breath and relax. Just like local police departments, the Secret Service and the FBI will investigate themselves and find no wrongdoing.

Confused as to why Rowe is so hostile? Did he really expect for Congress or anyone to not ask questions? They shouldn’t even have to be asked! They should be telling us. Why in the world does it take so far 3 weeks to interview maybe 30 people?

He keeps on saying "mistakes were made, " with no explanations why they were made. We're not idiots. The mistakes were made because they were allowed to.

How can we trust this situation and these agencies ?

I am often appalled at the way in which those senators and reps who we vote into office are spoken to by those we have not selected for their positions. Senators and Reps should be respected! I do not care for which party they work, just give them their due respect!

I agree with you, Senator Cruz. It is political bias!!!
