Thank you for this information! I made a brush holder with a 12 inch strip of half inch thick self-adhesive weatherproofing foam tape purchased from a hardware store. The tape is intended for eliminating air, dust and moisture leaks around doors and windows. Use a utility knife to cut slits in the foam about 1/2 inch apart, stick the strip to a convenient space. Press the handle of any size brush upside down into a slit to dry.

Anna, that was very important information on how to clean and store your brushes. Thank you. Helene

Thank you so much! I am now storing and cleaning my brushes properly; I invested in quality brushes; I’m using some sticky putty to hold the brush upside down while drying; I attach the putty to the regular brush holder. Love escoda brushes! Thank you; I am learning so much on your Skillshare classes.

I found a space saving way to hang my better brushes out to dry. A (magnetic!) dry erase board with small very strong magnets lined up on it. Then I glued a piece of magnetic tape to the upper part of the handle of the brush. Also the magnetic tape has to be quite strong! Using my oldest scissors I cut the mag. tape pieces not much bigger than the magnet it will hold on to. Now I can just tap my clean, damp brushes to the magnetic dry erase board and voila - they stay where i put them until they have dried :-) I actually looks quite nice on my work table :-)
Almost forgot to say: the board is being held upside by a small table easel....

A very cheap and perfect solution is a mixture of Dudu Osun soap and coconut oil or coconut fat. Dudu Osun soap can be easily dissolved and mixed in a warm water bath. It stays creamy. It ends up looking exactly like this purchased product. As a conditioner I use linseeds that are soaked in water for 10 minutes (10g seeds in 250ml water). It ends up becoming gelatinous and you have to strain the seeds through a sieve at the end of cooking. Then add a drop of clove oil for durability and store in the refrigerator. When the clean brush is dipped into it, this gelatinous solution dries to a perfect coating and can be removed with water before use. Thanks for your very nice videos!

Thank you so much Anna, I have been painting most of life and I never knew, everybody told me how important it is to thoroughly clean my brushes. I was way too aggressive. I started with acrylic and I think I spent more time scrubbing my fragile brushes. I thought I needed more pricey brushes. When I started with W/C. I did the same, it is hard to change habits but now I am trying to be much more gentle. Thank you I will subscribe and like you. Cheers from Vancouver Island Canada.5

I very recently decided to invest in professional brushes and have been afraid to use them. These tips help me feel more confident that I won't ruin them easily. Thanks!

Some Sumi (Chinese) brushes come with a little loop of thread at the end to hang it on a special little rack. I taped some thread to some of mine and that works, just hook it on something to dry. Just another idea.

Really useful, Anna - thank you very much.

Very helpful. I didn't know that the soap used would make a difference.
One question: at 5:38 what you have written is to "allow them to dry completely with the bristles facing up." Should that be "facing down" instead?

Wish I can get that Escoda jar but website won't sell it to USA customers unfortunately. But all the tips are great, I made same mistake in beginning and ruined some of my new brushes like that as well.
