So I come from an abusive childhood. Never learnt basic skills like cleaning when I finally had the courage to leave home. This is such a nice video - you’re teaching me life skills that I’ve never really been shown. Thank you :)

I've always told my children that cleaning your home is an act of love for those who dwell there, those who provide, those who lived there before you, and for yourself.

When I was at home, my mom did a spring cleaning each year. The mattresses came off and taken outside to sun. While that was happening, she cleaned the bedsprings. Yep, back in those days, the bedsprings were open. Each speck of dust was gone afterward. She cleaned the windows, sills, top of each window and door along with the molding around the bottom of the floor
All of the winter clothes were changed out for spring clothes. In the kitchen the fridge was cleaned inside and out with baking soda. The oven was cleaned. You get my gist. Nothing in our home went untouched. It was a great feeling afterward. I never thought of it as a brain workout. Mom always said that people might be poor but soap and water went a long way to making one feel rich
..I enjoy your channel. Wish that you did more.

I love this. I grew up in a hoarder house, infested with cockroaches and rats. I made sure to move out after hs. When I moved out, I read everything about the psychology behind hoarders and how children are affected. I read all about being minimalist, living simply, and how to clean like a housekeeper. I love watching and learning ways to deep clean.

This man is like Mr. Rogers for adults. Such a calming energy, so thoughtful, so kind, and with a good sense of humor. Now excuse me I need to go dust my chairs.

There’s something about watching this brilliant man wearing a bandana on his head, hand-washing his floor that is enchanting. The world needs to watch this series. Everything Rajiv does is magical.

Whoever decided to hire this guy for HGTV, needs a raise. Rajiv's voice is so soothing and conversational. The people who speak like sports presenters for these shows, are truly bothersome and I never watch them. I found myself at my computer just admiringly gazing at Rajiv and his fun stories and well-spoken tips. Amazing work, Rajiv!! Keep it up. Would love to see more characters like Rajiv on TV.

"It's good for strengthening the mind" and it's one of the few things I decided to do to help myself get out of a deep depression/autistic burnout, back in 2016. I first took a whole month off for vacations, then I came back and established a clear schedule of getting up at such time, having breakfast at this time then lunch and dinner... And I used household chores as an anchor to rebuild my ability to actually start tasks and see them to the end, thus rebuild my self-esteem at the same time. It may be silly and it may not work for everybody, but it did for me, it gave me enough strength to finish my Master degree and move on with my life.

I love a physical deep cleaning. In my culture we believe the home is alive; there's a spirit to the home that comes directly from the energy you project into the space. So when you surround yourself with good intentions and deeds, like resolving fights, cooking healthy foods, laughing and yes, deep cleaning, your home is receiving that energy and essential giving it back to you. I make a point to talk to my home and things that live with me, thanking them and adding a sense of gratitude for what I have. I love so much that you resurfacing the importance of home keeping and its psychological benefits. Keep it up and I'll keep watching and wishing you well. BTW- do you have tips for cleaning your mattress?

Due to having autism I usually find it very hard to focus on the "dull" tasks such as deep cleaning rather than my favourite home tasks (cooking, sorting etc.). Now that I have moved away from my childhood home these tasks are all the more important and you have inspired me to get to work on deep cleaning my living space! Thankyou so much!

Dear Rajiv, this video brought back memories of my childhood. Being 100% Italian, we loved to clean everything in my home. Every Saturday the routine was to strip the sheets to be washed, and while that was being done, sis and I were to get busy washing the floors in the bedrooms. Yes, and on hands and knees, we went at it. I loved the way the floor looked after the washing, so shiny and smelling so good. Today it's hard for me to perform this chore (79 years young). When you took out the coverlet, I was smiling ear to ear, it was beautiful. Yellow and grey, such a happy combination of color. The whole room exploded, with happiness. Thank you so much, Jersey Ann from NJ

Rajiv has a sense of beauty, care, respect and honor that is simply awe inspiring...I'm 58 years old and think "when I grow up, I want to be like Rajiv." The fact that he is cleaning his apartment to welcome, not a human guest, but a beautiful handmade summer wool bed cover made by a dear friend is simply priceless. Let's hope we can all glean something magical, creative and appreciative from his simple handmade and hear-infused life!! Thank you Rajiv from the bottom of my heart.

I’m 71 years old & this is how I grew up learning how to take care of a home, Laundry, washing dishes (one of my first jobs) setting the table, feeding the dog, & also how to take care of babies ( I’m the oldest of 5) ETC… WHEN I DID GREW UP THERE WAS NOTHING I COULDN’T DO AS FAR AS TAKING CARE OF MYSELF OR ANYONE I CARED FOR. This was normal in my home & looking back I’m grateful for everything my Mom, my aunts, my Nana, and my Dad taught me I was pretty handy repairing things thanks to Dad. Very Grateful, and I passed it down to my Sons & Grandchildren today who can cook & sew, Etc… Grateful!

I used to clean my house top to bottom a few times each year and then go to the florist and buy big bunches of blooms as my reward. Love you, Rajiv! ❤️
