5 PANTRY DESSERTS! Easy Desserts from your Pantry Staples

I almost always want something sweet in the evening, and I almost never have sweet things lying around. So it's nice to have a few super easy, very delicious desserts I can bust out at a moment's notice. Today I'm showing you 5 of my favourite pantry desserts for when you want a sweet treat without leaving the house.

Timestamps:
Intro - 0:00

1. Cinnamon Toast - 0:36

There is nothing simpler or more delicious than buttered toast, with a big sprinkle of brown sugar and a hint of cinnamon. Always handy, always tasty.

2. Rice Pudding - 1:22

You can get as elaborate as you want with rice pudding. In this case, I'm just using equal parts leftover rice and milk (soy milk for me) some brown sugar and the zest of an orange. Other nice additions include raisins, cinnamon, nuts, seeds, chocolate chips, berries, you name it.

3. Mug Cake - 3:24

4. Crepes! - 7:23

I love crepes! They remind me of my childhood. So delicate, so tender, and so simple to whip together! For this recipe, I used equal parts egg, milk, and flour, and a couple teaspoons of sugar. I used a lot of butter in the pan, and I flavoured this one up with lemon, icing sugar and sliced strawberries.

5. Frozen Cherry Treat - 9:50

Ok, this one may or may not qualify as dessert (depending on who you talk to) but it is a really lovely treat to have in the evening. It has become my nightly ritual and I look forward to it all day.

Thanks for watching!

A little about me:

I'm Paula, and I started How To Make Dinner because dinnertime is my favourite time of day. (Except on weekends, when it's breakfast, but you get the point.) I love winding down at the end of the day with a big ol' cooking and eating session.

I love dinnertime SO MUCH, but I know not all of you feel the same way. Feeding ourselves and our families can be stressful. So I started this channel and my blog to help give you easy dinner ideas for enjoyable home cooking with less fuss.

My dinnertime strategy - Keep it simple and delicious, and don't use too many pots and pans. Learn to cook with me and you'll be the master of quick and easy dinners that will please everyone.

I love the rice idea, I always have some leftover rice after dinner. And the cherry thing looks sooo good. I want to try it with berries, I have a bunch of raspberries and currants growing out back.

A spin on the frozen fruit treat. Try greek yogurt and some crunchy cereal. I like to add some Muesli. frozen fruits such as blueberries or raspberries work well.

Excellent video. Now I want to dip griddled cinnamon toast in the cherry milk. Must. Have. Now.

The cherry idea is a good one. I made something similar with frozen blueberries and soy yogurt before, and the blueberries would freeze the yogurt closest to it. It was like eating a popsicle.

Third time is the charm... to get the next one right! It happens but hey, good stuff in the end.

Thank you for your inspiration and ideas. I made a note of these ideas so when I am in a pinch for something sweet, I can refer to it. I have a few ideas to share with you...how about toast with jam? or graham crackers with butter or nutella? Did you ever make sorbet with frozen fruit? Just whiz froz fruit, (thaw about 10 min), a T. or so of sugar, depending on how much fruit, and a splash or two of juice. Pulse in food processor til sorbet consistency.

Mmmmm, mug cake looks really good and easy enough for me to make. Thanks for making all those mistakes and being brave enough to show them all to us. You've saved me a lot of time, I'm sure. When I get frozen cherries I just eat them out of the bag, but this sounds like more desserty. And I love that piece of music at the end.

I like the idea of frozen cherry cereal lol, you learn something new every day👍 I really like the combination of lemon and sugar too, I even have it on oats sometimes (it works for me haha). It was always a tradition eating lemon and sugar 'pancakes' on Shrove Tuesday growing up in the UK. I'll try it with icing sugar next time☺️

Hi Paula, Hi from a fellow Vancouveri Islander! I'm new to your channel but am hooked already. ( : Great content and love your background music when you decide to add it. My favorite intro is the one of you sitting in your chair and the very cool background music really sets the scene perfectly. Your delivery is relaxed and very easy to watch. Your style of cooking is perfect. Keep up the great work.

Ooo this was so fun to watch! Your last dessert reminds me of something I used to make myself back when I was a teenager. I'd buy one of those cream on top and chocolate at the bottom yoghurts ( plain one will do too) and then microwave some frozen blueberries in a bowl for 2 minutes or so, you want them to get really hot and the juice to come out, then I'd dump that hot fruit on the cold, cold yoghurt. It tasted like ambrosia. I will get frozen cherries next time I'm at the store, thank you! :)
