Title is a CLICKBAIT. Jordan Peterson DID NOT explain any of his (potential) differences with Ayn Rand. This was an interesting part of an interview, but I'd expect more honesty from people posting JP's video.

Well, there was very little here to compare Peterson and Rand. Nice bait.

Former leftist here. Got booted out for thinking for myself instead of towing the tribal line. Was doing a lot of fusion of conservative methods to solve progressive problems in a way that minimized government's role and strengthened the sovereignty of individuals. The Leftists were livid.

I dont understand why someone could think the idea of an individual only knowing whats best for them as selfish. Its literally saying you should be able to decide whats best for your happiness and be able to achieve that without a government checkpoint at every footstep.

I am so grateful that Jordan survived, and that he's inching his way back into public life. The world desperately needs him right now.

This was JP building his arguments in real time. He mentioned Rand and thats about it. The sum of it is all about JP excercising his ideals about the soveriegnty of the individual.

Hearing Jordan speak satisfies the hunger of my covert emotional urge to understand myself and my nature.

“Generate order from potential.” That is particularly powerful idea. Especially for managers 1:06

I just rewatched this while interview recently and it got me reading Ayn Rand again as the forbidden fruit that was left out of academia . Great post

Suffering and responsibility are secondary consequences of the individuality of awareness - which would make Ayn Rand correct.

It sucks there's no way to simultaneously signal your <like> that the content was presented while <dislike>ing the content itself.

I think one of the worlds greatest and most educational conversation would be a mutual interview between an Ayn Rand and Jordan Peterson.

Nietzsche would Like to swipe this to the left.
But:
The potential individual property is the potential of human kind and gives also a individuality in the responsibility of of a proud acting as a man of a value.

There are not contradictions at all with the Objectivist premises..., Mr. Peterson is defending the Primacy of the individual...., exactly as objectivism does...

"Collectivism is the tribal premise of primordial savages who, unable to conceive of individual rights, believed that the tribe is a supreme, omnipotent ruler, that it owns the lives of its members and may sacrifice them whenever it pleases." -- Rand

What do you think about this Ayn Rand's view?

Ayn Rand deserves way more credit because she helps modern people shield themselves from the defunct socialist/communist ideology.

Since learning about her because of my deep dive on the history of economic thought, I've wanted someone to show me where Rand is wrong or at least where she falls short of a complete moral philosophy.

I now believe that she overlooks the nature of conciseness itself. In other words, she does not dive into the origins of consciousness. Because of that, she cannot see the archetypal stories that are a seemingly integral part of the human experience.

I don’t know Peterson personally and have never spent time with him but sixty years ago, I did know Ayn Rand and spent time with her personally and of the two, I think I’d rather, we’ll, you know where I’m going with that. RIP, Ayn, you were not warm but you were white-hot and the incandescence of your thought still lights my way through these dark times.

It is often argued that socialism has never been done right. The same could be said about capitalism. Because both are governed by the greed and hubris of mankind.
