In this video, I’ll tell you about signs of B12 deficiency. Vitamin B12 deficiency is dangerous for health because it can cause a range of serious health problems. Vitamin B12 helps the body make red blood cells, which carry oxygen around the body. Without enough B12, the body cannot make enough healthy red blood cells. This can lead to warning signs of B12 deficiency: anemia, a condition in which the body does not have enough healthy red blood cells to carry oxygen. Anemia, on the other hand, can cause fatigue, weakness, and shortness of breath. Vitamin B12 deficiency, low B12 levels, can also cause nerve damage, which can lead to numbness and tingling in the hands and feet, as well as balance problems, confusion, and depression. Neurological symptoms of B12 deficiency are the worst. So, if you want to know what are signs of vitamin b12 deficiency you should never ignore, causes of B12 deficiency, then this video is for you. I’ll also tell you about vitamin B12 deficiency treatment: vitamin B12 foods and B12 supplements. Janet Michalak, dietitian and food lover.

🎓 ABOUT ME:
I graduated from Dietetics at the University of Life Sciences in Poznań, Poland. I am particularly passionate about sports nutrition and clinical nutrition in the field of endocrinology. I am also a specialist in herbal/Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), as I graduated from Herbal Medicine at the Medical University in Poznań. Additionally, I am a personal and bodybuilding trainer. On a daily basis, I work individually with patients on a healthy and individually tailored diet, and I also write articles for magazines and blogs. What fascinates me the most in dietetics is the fact that proper nutrition and small changes in it can completely change one's health, performance in training, and overall well-being for the better. I try to promote a healthy lifestyle in various ways, which is why I created this YouTube channel. In the videos, I discuss topics such as a healthy lifestyle, weight loss (how to lose weight in a healthy way), what healthy products should be eaten, what products to avoid, and how to deal with diseases, including type 2 diabetes, coronary artery disease, neurodegenerative diseases, and autoimmune diseases.

Thank you. My dad was diagnosed too late, but after his B12 injection he really perks up and his mood improves.

I developed sciatic symptoms that lasted on and off for a few years and, in addition, my balance was not as good as it used to be. I attributed it to a back injury and getting older. But, because it never completely subsided and would seriously flair up periodically, I started searching for some exercises. I then happened to stumble onto B12 and its deficiency symptoms. In desperation, I tried B12 supplements, and very quickly (within a week) I started noticing an improvement. After taking B12 supplements for about six months, I have been symptom-free for the first time in years. BTW, Cyanocobalamin doesn't work for me but Methylcobalamin does.

It wasn’t mentioned that in the case of pernicious anaemia, where the stomach no longer produces intrinsic factor, B12 injections are essential. Tablets or dietary intake won’t work. I’ve been diagnosed recently, though my GP kept saying there was nothing wrong. My endocrinologist (for a different condition) picked it up and ordered long term B12 injections and folate tablets. I was suffering for months with anaemia and neurological symptoms and extreme weakness and dizziness prior to diagnosis.

Very thorough, no other B12 articles I've come across cover the intrinsic factor and the need for injections.
I'd like to have known the amount and frequency of the injections as I don't know efficient they are in meeting the body's requirement.

I often donate blood. The most common request from the service is called a double red platelet donation. Being retired I don't mind the extra time and I am glad to help. In the last few years my donation time has gone for 45 minutes to 3 hours or more. The staff have commented that I am the best hydrated donor that they have seen as a possible answer to why it is taking so long.
