Dishwasher Won’t Start, Flashing Start Light

This is my Frigidaire Dishwasher Model FFCD2413US. It would not start. The issue did not seem to be with the latch, a common problem which you can confirm by pressing the door in while pushing start. In this case, the issue seemed to be with the seating of the control board AND cheap buttons that require a pretty aggressive press in order to do anything. I installed it myself using the most basic tool set (2 screwdrivers, vice grip, a couple bits).

Backstory: This was part of a larger order from Home Cheapo as part of a house flip. The Miami based installers showed up and refused to install the dishwasher or the microwave, using lame excuses. The fridge and stove were significantly damaged. The front door to the condo unit was damaged on a re-delivery attempt, and ~2 months later the process is still not complete. These issues are likely a symptom of Miami - a challenging place to do business - but they reflect poorly on Home Cheapo's capabilities as a corporation to operate in a sub-optimal environment.

I live in a rental. Management replaced a 4-year-old Frigidaire dishwasher with a bad pump with another Frigidaire dishwasher. (Model FFCD2413UW) I'm thinking, try a better brand. But they're spending more swapping out dishwashers every few years.

Before that, the rental had a Kenmore installed when they built the building in 1995. Lasted 20+ years!

When I was a homeowner, I bought a new Kenmore portable in 1987. It was still working when I sold it used around 2002.

As you said, the pushbuttons are a poor design. I give them a year before they go bad.

Thank you- this dishwasher has made me feel so dumb. I kept telling my husband I can't change the setting. His answer - "did you read the instructions?" I can't wait to show him the videos and everyone's comments! Feels good that I am not alone.

There is some browning on the wires that go into the connectors to the latch. Does that mean the. Latch handle needs replacing?

Thank you for this. I didn't have any problems with mine but it was like it had a poltergeist in it and sometimes you could get it to start and other times you couldn't. I didn't realize you had to firmly push the button. Or as you say hard push

I just moved in to this apartment 2 months ago. First time I actually used a dishwasher, so I thought it was me, must be doing something wrong. It works when it wants to. So I'm trying to get the damned thing to work and read your suggestion on pushing it hard. I was thinking i can't be pushing this thing any harder, but I used both thumbs and it turned on. POS!! Thanks for the video. I have this dishwasher and it is nearly impossible to get it to turn on. My cancel button doesn't work at all. It runs the full cycle and turns itself off. I am not happy with it. It has a one-year guarantee from the manufacturer. I'll see if the store has options to return it.
