I def don't regret it. I was bullied severely and overworked in med surg and don't recommend it to anyone but I'm in a better position now. I'm in NYC, graduated with my ADN, no school loan, got into the hospital starting at 90K a year. Now I'm a school nurse (super chill) making 110k a year and have many days off.

I’ve been an RN for 8 years, started with an associates degree. It’s a great career. You get to help people. Lots of options. I work 3x12 hour shifts a week and make close to 6 figure income in Ohio.

Probably one of the most admirable jobs you could do. You help save lives and make sick people better. I couldn’t do it. I saw what the nursing staff did for my parents in their last weeks. Amazing people .

So glad I found a cool nurse like you. Man I thought nursing was gonna be a whole lotta highschool petty drama with staff gossiping about each other and talking crap about patients. Well atleast if I worked with you I know we would be big chillin being bosses all day. Going back to school to be male nurse see ya brother!

At some point in my schooling, it came to the point where I needed to choose a path to go down and without reason, I chose nursing. To this day, I don’t really know what else I would be doing but I’ll say the opportunities are there. Now I work remote, 5 days a week, in the most flexible position I have ever had. Goes to show you can work in a hospital, you can work a travel position, you can work remote, with students, the possibilities are definitely endless.

Thank you, I needed to hear this. I'm 25 and only an LPN right now, but I have been thinking about getting my RN. I just graduated last year in 2023, and I work in Pediatric home health. I honestly love it. Best job I have ever had by far. I got to pick my own hours, get paid decently well and am living in a much nicer position than before. I chose to work 4 12 hour shifts during the week which may sounds like a lot, but I work nights and may job is not super difficult, so it is manageable. Honestly very good job that i'm happy with

Thank you for creating this video and channel, it’s very helpful. I’m 25 and I’m unemployed. I did work in a nursing home as an assistant nurse and I walked out about two years ago because I saw how tough it was and I lost perspective. But it’s the best option for me and my life and I need to just get through all the hard bits and become a Registered Nurse and I just need to remember it’s a source of income and it’s not supposed to be 100% fun.

Yeah speaking as a male ED nurse in NY I just graduated last December starting salary is $107k. Originally was pre-med got into a handful of US and Caribbean medical schools during the pandemic but all of them would have had me have to relocate cause I got waitlisted/denied from the schools on my coast. Ultimately I’m very happy with the decision cause I graduated with about $70k of debt that’s including about $10k of interest and I get to start my life and enjoy it in my 20s very being an MD/DO having to basically wait till my 30s to really get started and have 3x the amount of debt I do have. There’s a lot of options in nursing especially in the business side and NP route so I def recommend it even to people who eventually wanna become a doctor become a nurse first since it’s an undergrad degree I would have done that instead of my useless Biochemistry/Psych degree obviously not entirely useless but still grade scheme of things could have spent less money since I had a full ride at my original degree but hindsight is 20/20.

It’s crazy how I could relate to what you are saying! I was more interested in infantry or MP route but all of a sudden I was introduced to this route!

Just started my third after coming off a full air force career and getting ready to start off the second career. Great video and was really starting to feel the same way. Thanks for the reassurance, I enjoy the work but I see it as a job not the be all.end all.

I graduated in 2001 so been doing this for a while. I think we need to get to where we just refer to ourselves as Nurses, RNs, etc, and not constantly qualifying it as male nurse. Obviously we work in a profession that is predominantly female, but we are all part of one profession. Not being critical of you, just putting that out there.

On the journey to nursing its not for everyone like any other job some jobs are not for everyone, but if u love healthcare loving taking care of patients have a passion for it then do it some people will go into nursing and see that it’s not for them we all different people

Thanks for this. I’m currently doing some classes that’ll help me apply in this RN program. I’m happy it’s a 2 year process in some community college, it’s open admission but a competitive wait list… Although it’s a few requirements to complete, like taking the TEAS. Nonetheless this video gave me faith, thank you.

The way you speak just perfectly answers all my questions and so relatable. I also wanted to become a cop because it seemed like good pay and a badass type of job that's fun but I don't meet requirements for vision bc I have lazy eye. Currently in grade 12, applied for a BSCN at university thinking about that or kinesiology. Don't necessarily look up to either but pay seems much higher for nursing and you described it in the perfect way. thanks!
