With the African weave net need to be disinfected weekly. Some say every other day but, who has the time. You either soak in a disinfectant like dettol or vinegar & baking soda for some hours. Then rinse out afterwards.

Actually if you’re using the bass method, which u should be using to brush, mechanical toothbrushes are better. Also be sure to get a soft bristle brush where the bristles are also wide spread to make it easy to remove gunk. Wash your tooth brush with dish soap at least once weekly

My favorite aspect of the net sponges are that they don't hold moisture, so they are much less likely to grow mold.
It's verybdry where I live, so mold isn't as much of an issue, but that doesn't mean it can't happen. It's better safe than sorry.
