Theorists, we've all heard about edible clothing right? Usually it's something you see in a gag gift store and it's made of some kind of candy. Now, that may not seem nutritious and, while you are right, it DID get me thinking... about SURVIVAL! You may recall I wanted to figure out how long someone could survive on only one food for life, well now I want to know if someone could live off only eating their CLOTHES! Get ready to serve yourself up a big slice of your favorite shoes and dig in!

Been asking for awhile, but PLEASE do an episode on Aspartame, the artificial sweetener in all diet sodas, including your favorite. So much shadiness involved in its approval by the FDA

I actually met a missionary (now retired, he is in his 80’s) who told us about a time when he was put into prison and left to starve to death. The wardens let the prisoners keep one item to take with them and he chose his genuine leather belt that was gifted to him by a close friend before he left. He said a lot of people chose the Bible to take with them but he had already memorized it so he didn’t need it. I can’t remember how long he said he was in there but he almost ate all of his belt before he was set free. At first, he chose it out of sentimentality, but it ended up saving his life. Lots of other missionaries didn’t make it.

Me starving, debating cannibalism, looking at my clothes, when I remember that one food theory video I watched, only to remember it predicted my current situation perfectly, which leads me to discovering the fact matpat is responsible for the end of humanity and my current predicament.

Food Theory idea: how do colors affect our eating habits and how to companies use it for their advantage?
(as in, why do we rarely ever see blue or purple food while other colours like red appear regularly)

I know this is kind of weird but I’ve always admired matpat but wasn’t always sure why. He reminds me of my brother if he was there when i was growing up, giving me random facts, theorising pop culture with me and of course the witty banter every gtlive feels so comfy. Of course it would be weird if i thought of matpat as my brother, i dont, but he brings me a type of comfort that i used to get from my brother.

I think it would be fun if he did a more open version of this episode, of what in your house could you eat? could you eat tooth paste? could you eat paper? could you eat soap? if you have an "ornamental" plant, could you eat it? ( a plant that isnt used for food) can I eat candle wax? etc.

Another fun note about the Donner Party: Apparently there were accounts from the Donner Party of people boiling and eating leather. Some of those people died, but some survived so technically we can't rule out the leather as being helpful

Weirdly enough, my 7th grade history teacher let my class watch a recreation of cannibalism during westward expansion(I think?). The group got hit with an unexpected snow storm, and the people ate their food rations; then the horses, babies, children, women- until only one traumatized man was left. A pair of travelers then stumbled along him, seeing bloody snow, clothes and bones everywhere. That’s all I remember, and I don’t know the title of it.
