Sequel episode idea: Ask the theorist team what they would eat for the rest of their lives and do the math to see who would live the longest

My vote is for Chankonabe, a Japanese stew designed for sumo wrestlers. Lots of protein, lots of vegetables for vitamins and minerals, and lots broth to help with water intake. Even with a strict recipe it's got pretty much everything. Plus if it's a survival situation it's perfect for a body building on a deserted island.

"Can You Stay Hydrated From Food Alone?" would be a good theory. All marine mammals get water purely from food, and I often wonder if that would be possible for humans, considering that there's many vegetables and fruits that are over 90% water, such as lettuce.

He isn’t just a good theorist, he’s also a great teacher.

so crazy idea...what exactly causes "after-taste?" are there certain food groups that are doomed to have it, or is there a way that we could create foods with good aftertastes?

A sweet potato, lentil, collard green stew is what you are looking for. Mix in canned tomatoes, mushrooms, carrots and you’ll have every nutrient in one bowl of soup based on the FDA requirements

The trick is to pick a food you can change but it’s still technically that food. Pizza. You could have deconstructed and it add extra protein. Salad you can do whatever with

If I'm given a little bit of flexibility I'm going to choose fried rice and custom pick the ingredients to fit all my needs. Not only would that be possible because of how many options you have for ingredients but as an asian I'll also never get tired of it.

We can survive on only one liquid as well - water

There you go MatPat, you don't have to make a theory on that one at least

My parents in their younger days did grow up basically eating only sweet potatoes every single meal.
(It was the only food that could be easily mass-produced in their part of the world)
The only variation was basically roasted, steamed or mashed sweet potatoes. No meat, very little rice, the only vegetable was sweet potato leaves.
They did manage to live through the difficult few years though yes they are quite a fair bit shorter than I am

food theory idea: how many calories does Santa get from cookies every year, and can he survive on only cookies?

You know that scene in "The Santa Clause" where elf Judy says that it took her 1200 years to perfect the hot chocolate recipe. "Not too hot, extra chocolate, shaken not stirred" so I think this needs to be put to the test, does temperature really matter that much? Shaken better then stirred? What really is the best hot chocolate recipe?

edit: apparently there's people who think I'm lying, or I stole it from some video. I don't care if you think I'm lying, I simply read it in the local newspaper. lol

I knew a guy from my town who only ate pizza every day, apparently for 2 years straight.
when the domino's didn't get their daily call from him, they called the police & they found him with a broken leg, thankfully rescue'd him.

Here's a theory for you: Can Ambrosia, the mythical food of the gods exist in real life? What would it be made of? What would it taste like?

I always say lasagna for two reasons:

1. It's my favorite food

2. It can be vegetable, meat, four cheese, lazy style, vegetarian, gluten free, vegan, etc. And if cooked correctly, it tastes delicious every time.

I was literally thinking "potatoes is one of the best choices because there is a insane amount of ways to eat a potato" and then matpat said that potatoes is one of the best choices 😂

I worked at Chipotle for 8 months and ate it every single day, even on days off, and I swear I never felt healthier lol! I just had to be careful about what I’d get. Like not getting meat every time or cutting out cheese or sour crème here and there or getting a bowl instead of a burrito. You get creative so that you don’t get sick of the free meal every shift 😅
