EVERY doctor I've been to has been like this.... you tell them what you have how you feel and they just don't listen... it's like they wrote down a certain diagnostic before you even walked in and the whole time they try to convince you that you have this certain thing

I’ve had this happen so often that I’ve started to think that there must be something about me/my personality that makes doctors disbelieve me. I once broke my arm and the triage nurse wouldn’t believe me - it took 3 weeks to get an x-ray via my primary care doctor that showed that my arm was broken. The nurse had told me off for putting it in a sling and said I caused the lasting pain by putting it in the sling and I’d apologised to her! And that’s just my least harrowing example. Thanks for bringing up how this happens. When you have a chronic health issue it can feel utterly relentless.

My doctor's kept telling me it was my anxiety for 10 years. I kept telling them am breathless all the time. Shower, stairs etc. Got worse. One doctor actually listened to me and sent me for a ct scan. Liquid on my lungs from smoking a electric cigarette for 12 years. I missed the 10 year mark too sue the company . Which i never new you could sue a company thats new and have so long to do it. But yea been told am depressed and giving antidepressants when sm not its my new diagnosis of 10 months of adhd all my life. They don't give a flying fook about people.

Are doctors taught gaslighting? Cause I’m seeing an alarming pattern here. I had four ER docs and two GPs tell me my symptoms of anaphylaxis were anything from weight gain, anxiety, to antihistamine-rebound, and yeah they mentioned that since I was sitting up, talking and could walk I was doing better than I thought I was. I didn’t know I had a food allergy, I now have an epi-pen.

A couple of MD's have done this to me, 1 actually prescribed me antidepressants instead of advocating for me.

Story of my life since 2 weeks ago! They said the same exact thing and even the doctors at the hospital they went to and they said that the way I was presenting myself with somebody who had anxiety. I came to find out from a chiropractor that I had a neck injury. It was causing a bunch of the symptoms I was having and including anxiety. I am also working on getting a gastroenterologist and currently in the middle of a doctor change.

I’m a doctor and I got gaslighted by the therapist and psychiatrist when I went to see them. They were like - can you tell us if you think you need to be on antidepressants? I was - you are the clinician - YOU have to make that clinical judgement.

This isnt something you should have to do, but if they deny u a test or medication ask/insist they put in ur chart that they did not think it was medically necessary. You have a better chance to sue for malpractice then and often the Dr's cave cause they only actually care about consequences that effect them

Just say your symptoms and request/demand for the tests. If they refuse, you might have to look for a different doctor

I’m not trying to be controversial but the fact is, shit like this happens to men and women. The medical field has been flawed for generations, let’s not discount the fact the medical field readily and easily provide opiates to patients who don’t need it and end up basically progressing the overall opioid epidemic. I have a major distrust with any doctor from any field. I’ve lived my whole life with a genetic heart condition, but it took me nearly dying to figure out an issue I’ve been hospitalized for multiple times.

Yes I cannot stand most of the medical community I have been abused assaulted mocked made fun of and at the least just had neutral and no change I recently went to the doctor again for ulcerative colitis and he looks in my list of allergies and bad reactions to meds and said I find this hard to believe and laugh in my face so I'm like fine give me these meds when I go into anaphylaxis and want to kill myself maybe you'll believe that I react to these medications it's ridiculous how gaslighted we are by some doctors it disgusts me. Then he proceeded to tell to take meds and laughed at me but apparently the meds I'm on are not good enough for he doesn't even approve of the meds that I take from other doctors for other conditions I have and then mocked me about that. Then proceeded to call a natural doctor that literally saved my life when the medical community failed me and almost killed me he called the natural doctor bullshit and laughed in my face when all the medical community does is Dole out Pharmaceuticals that can make us worse kill us or of horrible side effects half the time they don't even work I guess I'm looking for my 4th GI doctor now cuz none of them will be able to help me without making me feel like garbage and then had the balls to send me a survey and ask for five star ratings😂
