To me, he looks very uncomfortable, physically. I have back pain, and when i have to sit still for more than a few minutes, my back tweaks and i unconsciously start squirming around in my chair. In turn, it makes me anxious and feel self conscious. I was taught this, among many hand motions, to help center and calm myself. It's very similar to prayer hands. Just my two cents based on my experience.

As an awkward person, I can't imagine having a camera on me for the world to see judging every movement I make. I don't see the confidence angle, just an awkward person not knowing what to do with his body or hands.

If his history is true, he does have the reputation for being a “know it all”. This could be fear masquerading as confidence. If he does have a history of being bullied and he may have learned how to look more confident than he is.

I think it matters too that when he looks at the cameras it's a very quick look. To me that suggests he's not happy about the cameras. This is in contrast with Taylor Shabusiness who seemed to enjoy being filmed. I live in Idaho, so I'm paying particular attention to this case.

His behavior looks robotic and calculatively posed. Agreed.

Hi Dr. G I have a case suggestion. Since there has been so much controversy around the parents of Madeleine McCann I would love for you to analyse some of their early interviews.

Thank you for this analysis of Bryan Kohberger! I think he's an interesting man. I don't find him cold as many do, he seems very introverted and aware of himself. I wonder what the prosecution will present.

You must also realize he has a shock belt around his waist and retaining leg braces on each leg, limiting his movement’s and physical comfort ability

This was an excellent body language example.

I agree that he's just trying to look confident. He's not just aware of the camera, but his anxiousness about it seems like it's overwhelming him and he's barely paying attention to anything else. He's moving in ways he thinks will try and hide that anxiety, but can't sustain those positions because he's not actually feeling confident, imo.

That’s not always true about the steepeling because my daughter does this when her anxiety kicks in all the time. Could be his anxiety about the whole situation.

I noticed that the steepling started around the same time that the judge allowed him to wear a suit to court. He has definitely been acting differently since then. He doesn’t clench his jaw anymore and he even makes eye contact with the gallery, giving them an occasional awkward smile as he enters the courtroom. It’s damage control to make him seem less creepy, awkward and cold.

I think it’s a calming technique. I do that when I’m anxious and want to control it. Almost like meditation, you definitely feel calmer and in better control of your feelings.

I just think he knows the argument is not going anywhere. He looks annoyed! 😑

Did you also notice Brian was steepling when the prosecutor was steepling

- this is the reason why there might be a possibility for Judge to ban cameras in courtroom, a-gain ❗❗❗😡

Agree! I thought it was also mirroring. Prosecutors were also doing it

I'd be nervous about cameras and being in court, too. He's on trial for his life and has been stuck in a cell for almost a year. I'd need to be heavily medicated at this point to even be remotely sane. To me he looks terrified and rightly so as this is obviously a serious case of him being 100% railroaded.

After Kohlberger lowered his hands at 5:00, it seemed like he was aware of what he was doing with his hands. It wasn’t a smooth, steady movement. There was a bit of a jerky movement and hesitation like he didn’t know what to do with his hands next. It looks like he very conscious of his postures and movements. Dr. G, I really love your videos. You explain things clearly without rambling on, and you replay the parts you are talking about so we can see exactly what you mean. I always look forward to your new videos.

One thing I notice is the slouching of his shoulders. He doesn’t appear as cocky as previously. He is also not clenching his jaw. I can’t help but wonder if he has been prescribed medication since he seems more relaxed. Or, as you’ve pointed out with the steeping of his hands, he feels things are working out in his favor.
