When eating nuts, just remember that you are what you eat.

Thank you so much, Miche for answering this burning question. You are helping to clear up so many misconceptions out there. You are doing an amazing job. Well done to you!

I assume we are talking about raw nuts. Roasted nuts are often sprayed with oils, which adds calories—and other things.

Thank you Miche! I know it’s hard, but if you could, it would be really helpful if you sometimes stated the number of participants in a study or if research yielded statistical significant evidence or not. Thanks a lot! I enjoy your videos!

I think even if weight gain were to occur with nuts, the adipocyte cell physiology would likely be healthier (anti-inflammatory cell status). Simply portion controlling nuts would be prudent approach for those still concerned with potential weight gain. And you're dead on with your research review and reasoning of the findings👌 Very impressive ✋Nuts have a lower metabolizable energy and unless our teeth can process them like a Vitamix, we don't fully absorb the fat calories via fiber-bound and incomplete mastication via chewing. And they appear to have a satiating effect that causes less food intake within the 24-hr time period. Nuts are also great because a little fat goes a long way (fat soluble vitamin and antioxidant bioavailability enhancement). Great video 👌

Thanks for the information and for not adding the unnecessary and annoying background “music” that sooo many videos are infected with. In the peanut butter vs whole nuts study, it would be interesting to know if the peanut butter used was only peanuts or butter with added palm (and other) oils, sugar, salt, etc.

Absorption, assimilation, and elimination. Since the nuts/seeds are natural/unrefined from their nutrition and fiber (soluble or not soluble), the body is able to eliminate the calories it does not need and not store them (as fat). Great video

Omg I remember asking you about the nut butter thing! Thank you so much for this video, it was, as always, extremely interesting. I certainly did not expect refined carbohydrates to be worse for weight loss than nuts, but it's something I'll be taking into consideration when making food choices in the future! If I may suggest another topic that I find fascinating, it's how the frequency and timing of food intake affects TEF (and of course how effectively food can be digested depending on the quantities of it that we eat). I've read a couple of reviews on the topic, but to be honest, interpreting nutritional data is not something I'm skilled at, so I would love your input on this subject. Hope you're staying safe and sane xx

Awesome video Miche! I learned a lot and I think I’ll feel much more relaxed about eating nuts now. :) However does the same go for cashews I wonder? I was worried that using them so much in my cooking at home was making me gain weight haha.

Great video! Slight mistake at 11:51. I heard "nuts actually don't cause weight loss", but I think it was meant that they don't cause weight gain.

Thank you so much for providing useful research based information on nutrition! I would like to know how fats from nuts and avocados affect the moisture in our skin and hair. I really appreciate the information you provide!!!

Yep just more verification that whole food plant based diets are the way to go. I guess we can have our nuts and eat them too !!!

Calories in vs calories out “breaks down “…or is it a good labeling issue, or a function of the thermal effect of food? Feels like you’re painting with a broad brush here, and would appreciate it if you explored this topic in more depth.

According to research published in Nutrients, nuts are rich in protein and fiber—two nutrients that increase satiety to help keep you feeling full longer. They're also high in unsaturated fats, which can help decrease body fat accumulation. Additionally, the research showed that consuming nuts can also increase thermogenesis to help you burn more calories.
