Not really understanding the 22 thumbs down. But hey, some people live that type of life. Everything this brother lays out on YouTube, is simplified and makes more people's lives easier and more pleasant. Heck, I thought everyone loves good cooking and a clean/organized cook. AB, you are the go to guy for many of us. Thanks👍🏿👍🏿.

I have lots of cast iron in different stages of shiny to rusty. I have obsessed over many videos. Each one has only part of the picture. Your video covers all the bases (starting with using soap and never again). Your steps make the confusion clear. 2023 cast iron here we come!!!

My grandma still does it that way. And I've kept the tradition going and showing my posterity the same. Great content brother.

Nothing but the truth!!! I followed this video to a T. Used Avocado Oil spray (500F smoke point) and my cast irons could not have turned out better. Rust prevention worked so well I wish I could put my truck in the oven. Thank you for making this video. You’ve got another subscriber after this one. Amazing!

Hey 🆎I’ve actually restored cast iron pans I found at my Granny’s house. My Mom was ready to toss them. I use what I have too to get that nice sheen. Cast iron is the best cookware ever.
That can on the stove contained bacon grease for whatever it was needed for.

That finger trick was the best explanation on how the seasoning bonds to the skillet

I have been cooking with cast iron for a long time and have trying to keep my cast iron up. This is by far on of the best videos I have seen on seasoning your cast iron. I guess I didn't realize you just keep putting more and more layers on back to back. I got my rain day all figure out . Thank you for your very well done / informative video.

Thank you for this video. I still use Crisco around my home and now I'm seasoning my 150 yr old cast iron. My Mother (R.I.P) and Grandmother (RI.P) would be proud I found your channel.😊

Great video. After oiling I use Scott blue shop paper towels to wipe off oil. The towels are great for absorbing the oil and not leaving lint after wiping like white paper towels will do. I also put a large baking sheet pan on the bottom of the oven to catch oil drips.

Thank you so much. I just got a new cast iron skillet. I remember my Mom and Grandmother doing it your way and it always worked. I must have looked at 15 videos on how to do this and yours was the best. I know this method works from my heritage. I have a smaller skillet that I got from my Mom to cook cornbread in. I needed it bigger one but was afraid I wouldn't know how to season it for the first time. Thanks once again for this video. <3

LOVE how showed in detail about seasoning. I only did the process once all my life and wondered why it takes so long for it to get “non-stick.” I do wash them every few months with dishwashing liquid but don’t plan to do that anymore either. Thank you SO MUCH for this wonderful information!

I just recently received my cast iron pans thru a great friend who knew of someone who has recently passed away from cancer and I'm very happy, blessed and forever appreciative of getting it, judging by what I have researched if I were to buy the five different cast iron pans, it would be about $150.00 plus in money value, all of my teflon's are gone except for one, and it's all gone on the coating, but still works awesome and it's big, wide, and deep for cooking large amounts of food.
Thank you for your videos and Thumbs up ALWAYS AND IM A NEW SUBSCRIBER BECAUSE IM JUST LIKE MOST PEOPLE, I TRULY❤👍💯😋GREAT PREFERABLY HOME COOKED RECIPE FOOD...THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THE VIDEOS !

Thanks for explaining the reasoning for certain steps so clearly! I finally understand how to season a cast iron pan. Thank you! Been wondering why my food has been sticking to the pan so much.

This should be the only video you need to watch. He is right about the OIL, it is your choice as long as it gets oiled several times. I prefer corn oil only because it has a higher smoke point (450). This man is on point with this process

I've had my own cast iron skillet for a couple of years, but never really felt like i got as much use out of it as my nonstick. Recently tho i've been using the cast iron a lot more and i've been having a ton of fun cooking stuff on it. Seasoning always felt like a mysterious chore that everyone had a different opinion on, but I feel a lot more confident after watching your video. thanks!!
