Cast iron skillets are durable and versatile pieces of cookware. Seasoning forms a natural, easy-release cooking surface and helps prevent your pan from rusting. If you season your skillet the right way, you’ll set yourself up for years of great cooking and easy cleaning.
The small rings on the Knapp Made chain-mail scrubber make for a nonabrasive surface that won’t damage the cast iron and can get into the corners of the pan. Plus, because it’s stainless steel, it will never rust.
We recommend using grapeseed oil to season your cast-iron skillet; it has a high smoke point and a neutral flavor. However, if you don’t have or don’t want to buy grapeseed oil, other neutral oils like canola or vegetable also work.
